DO NOT ENTER!! Not for the faint-hearted!!!

I have a VW with black velour upholstery. What an absolute PITA to remove all the lint, etc. What was I thinkin' when I cheaped out on the leather!

Actually this has been discussed before in the past....try a search for it and see what some old timiers had to say and some that do not post any more......

I started this thread to add a bit of interest ......

I know its been done before, and if I wanted to know what people posting here a year ago hated about detailing I woulda just read the old thread.

Judging by number of views and number of replies its pretty popular.

Sheesh what is it with folks on here posting 'use the search' all the damn time!!!!!!!!!

How bout you stop double posting ?

;)

Disclaimer : not a flame .. but folks are enjoying this thread so SHOOOOOSH!!!!

I hate claying and drying in hot weather.

But overall, claying is the pits. To rub the whole car with this little thingy is a pain.

To my VW cohorts with the black cloth interoirs, I felt your pain. My '02 GTI had black sport cloth that was great at removing the lint from my clothes. When I got my '03, I got grey leather, cooler in the summer, and no linting. The rubber floormats are starting to get in my nerves though.

I actually like claying, sort of a Zen like experience.

What I really hate is when you are working product into the paint with the PC, and it starts to dry leaving little clumps on the paint that get under the pad and totally negate all of the polishing you just did. Am I working the compound/polish too long?

I hate wheel wells too. The inside of my wheels really gets to me too. They are never clean.

Geeky, I know exactly what you are talking about. The rear windows will drip forever. I have even given up trying to dry them, I just QD after about two hours or so. The Mirrors are also a pain, they seem to drip for just as long. And don't get me started on the VW emblem on the hatch.....

Like a few have mentioned, I abhor detailing front bumpers. Next in line, would be door jambs, and of course the engine. :(

The outside of windows is no longer a problem now that I have Quik Shine. However, I still hate the inside of the windshield and the rear window. I can never sem to get them streak-free no matter what angle I hit them from. So far, my best result has been from Stoners and the Viper glass MF towel.

I actually don't mind doing windows. With one MF to clean and another to buff, I can do the inside and outside of my windows in less than 10 minutes.

The only place I have available to detail is on my parents driveway (I live in an apt) which gets full sun from 10:00 till 5:00 in the summer. It creates lots of problems for detailing on sunny days. Washing I have to be mindful of evaprating water and water spots so I have to keep wetting down the entire car to keep the panels cool and wet (QEW works well when it's not too dirty). Polishing is difficult as almost all are impossible to work in direct sun, so that leaves evenings and cloudy days. Also, all waxes that I have don't like being applied in direct sun either (may have to try clearkote products).

What I really hate is detailing my black leather interior in the sun. Talk about HOT. I think I lost 5 lbs in sweat doing that one this weekend.

I HATED doing windows until I got my wagon and now all the windows are easily accessible, don't hate them as much now.

I kind of enjoy claying myself, kind of relaxing. :o The worst for me has got to be my rims... they're a 17" 12-spoke design and a royal PITA. I try to keep them coated in SG to make my life easier, but they still suck.

But my All Time Winner is the cupholders and the rear-seat-attachment cutouts in the floor of soccer-mom minivans that get filled with soda, cheerios, gummi-bears, you name it. That stuff is like epoxy! :angry

I can't believe someone else said it.

Man do I hate doing front Bumpers. Even on new cars, and waxing them. It just Blows.

I don't mind claying, Windows aren't a problem, wheel wells are fine and so is the inside of the wheels, I just hate the Front bumper first and the rear not as much, cause theirs four pipes to shine and play with on my M5.

3rd I hate taking of Klasse SG . One because you have to rub your ring out, but 2. It is delaying that heavenly PS. I could put PS on all day, except on the front bumper.

4th hate is people saying do a Search. Like Derrr. This has been a great thread.:xyxthumbs

I hate doing the front of my car... no contest... every single time I wash my car, that's the last place I wash cause of all the bugs. I can't help but feel that I'm ruining my MF towels or that I'm going to end up smearing those bugs on my car the next time I wash (despite how well I clean those towels afterwards)... also, just being that up close to the front of the car is a constant reminder of how many dings, dents, paint chips, and etched bug acid i have covered all over my 6 month old bumper... don't even get me started about my hood... it's just sad any way I look at it... I am SO getting that 3M clear bra on my car when I get a new one...
