coupe or sedan, what do you prefer?

Coupe. Otherwise this is the only sedan that I can honestly say that I'd be happy to drive.

For me, it's car type specific -

If it's a sports car- 2 doors

If it's a sport touring (a la 3 series) 4 doors

-I can enjoy both as long as they are true to their type.

The Mazda RX8 to me looks stupid with the quasi 4 door but I'm kind of a coupe thing...

-and that dumb Saturn SC Coupe from the 90s 3 doors Really...? !?

For now, I prefer the practicality of 4 doors. I like the space and if you get the right sedan, you still get some sportiness and a great ride.

Maybe in a few years, I'll be more interested in coupes....

Heh heh, usually it works the other way...you start out liking sporty coupes and then get seduced by the practicality of a sedan.

But I guess *then* there could be a mid-life crisis where you just *gotta* buy something sporty :chuckle:

Welcome to Autopia!

Thanks for the welcome. I'm already regretting joining (too many detail projects dancing around my head! ;))

In my short time having access to a car, I've already realized/been grateful for the use of those 2 extra doors :chuckle:

Maybe when I live by myself will I get my M3 but definetely not now. Besides, what's un-sporty about a BMW m5, Merc S63/65/ or Maserati Quattroporte?:dance

I loved my coupe (Integra GS-R) and my convertible coupe (S2000), but I am utterly enamored by my 4-door Lexus IS300. Sporty and practical!

Well, what can I say, considering I have an older M3 *sedan*. And my "good" car is an S8 so I absolutely agree about some sedans being quite sporty :D

Oooo, rare car. An e36 M3 sedan would be a 97/98 model year, right?

They don't turn like some of their lighter brethren :)

Some would disagree with you..... :)

Right you are, 1997. Mine is supposedly (I don't know from Bimmers) especially rare as it's one of the 100 Byzanz Metallic ones and it was sold new in Germany to a guy who knew he'd be transferred to the US, so it has a few little Euro/US market features (but not the Euro engine :( ).

Awww you make me miss my e36 (1995 Cosmos that is my avatar pic).

I knew I should have never sold it...

Hands down the best car ever ever.

Eh..for some reason my current e36 doesn't really get it for me. Probably the automatic trans (my other M3s were all manuals) more than anything else, or maybe because it's stock whereas my others were modded :nixweiss

When I first started working, I had a 2-door but I hated that I had to shift my seat back and forth whenever I carried passengers in the back. I've owned 4-door since. Just more practical - especially now that I have kids. Maybe once they are on their own...
