Best QD

FK1 #425 - never had a QD wow me before I tried this

Crystal Mist - nice on carnaubas

#34 - "pure" QD that just gets rid of dust, watermarks, fingerprints, etc. and leaves nothing behind

Workhorse - S&W or Adam's Detail Spray

Carnauba - Sonus CS or Crystal Mist

Sealant - Sonus AS or Z8 if using Zaino

Universal - Quikshine or FK1 425

Polish removal - #34

The Turtle Wax Platinum leaves a great finish, but the smell is appalling. Mother's Showtime also leaves a great finish over carnauba and smells like cinnamon, but I find it a little too thick for my likings.

There are others that are good but these are my favorites so far.

Smells like carnauba wax to me, I've actually liked the smell at first, now I don't even notice it.

Besides, I'd rather TW just let it smell like carnauba, then add a fragrance, that just one less unnecessary chemical on my car. And once you're done w/ the QD, you can't smell anything anyway. It's not like it's cologne. :lol It's just QD.

It's the performance that I'm concerned with, and TWPUGD is fantastic. :)

Peace.

It does leave a nice finish, but mine certainly doesn't smell like carnauba. More like vinegar. And you mean you don't spritz your pits with QD every once in a while? :p

There is such a light smell to my QEW mixture that I almost have to question if you're using too much.

I measured out the one-gallon mark on my bucket (took an old half-gallon carton, filled it twice in the bucket with water) and I use two capfuls of QEW when filled to this mark. It smells "plasticy" to me. I personally hate the smell of it, but you do have to stick your nose in the bucket to catch it.

I've been sniffing car chemicals long before I found Autopia, but I'm glad to reaffirm through this site that I'm not the only one :)

If you think QEW smells bad wait until you get a blast from the new Optimum no rinse wash. :LOLOL

FK-1 #425 is the best I've ever used in my 56 years on the planet!!!!!! To top it off it smells wonderful . I've got gallons of other QD's in the garage and 425 just makes them second rate, it's that good.

:bawling: WHY oh why couldn't Optimum put SOME fragrance in there. At least make it smell like soap. A great smelling product makes the process so much more entertaining for me, especially with something I'd be using as much as no rinse wash. Boo.

I don't think QEW smells bad at all. It doesn't smell great, but straight out of the bottle I think it has a clean smell.

I must have a bad sniffer because none of the stuff mention has a bad smell to me. Stand next to a guy that hasent showered for a couple of weeks , now thats a bad smell.

I just tried FK1 #425 yesterday and I was Wowed. I've been using EO Wipe and Shine(something like that) and Meguiar's QD. I'm used to some resistence when wiping with other OTC QD, but #425 was so slick and wiped up so easily. The bubble gum sell was a bonus.

I did 1/2 my hood with Meguiar's QD and the other 1/2 with #425. I am testing to see if the anti-static properties can repel dust. I originally wanted to try QuickShine but for $46 for 1 gallon shipped, it was just too much. Went with #425 for $28 shipped based on all other user's comments.

Thanks to all the users that pointed me to FK1 #425. For its price and peformance, it is pointless for me to use any other QD.

cheaper places -- look at danase dot com : a gallon of QS is $30 -- last month with the 20% off sale, it was even less. Shipping was quite reasonable too (I had a big order).

I haven't seen it mentioned much, but for a carnauba topped finish I really like Eimann Fabrik Clear Pearl.

For a sealant topped finish I like either Sonus Acrylic or Menzerna High Gloss.

For an OTC product, Eagle One QD is actually rather easy to work with and provides nice results also.
