Beer Time

I didn't do any st. patty's day related drinking, but I had a pint of Schwelmer Hefeweizen and thought it was probably the best HW I've had to date, and it was decently priced at <$3. I also had a Pete's Wicked Wanderlust Cream Ale earlier that day that was decent.

I also bought a Chimay Ale but never got around to drinking it.

Have not had the Schwelmer yet (on my list), but I know for sure Schneider Weisse is extremely tasty, give it a try.

People you are slacking off. Tonight I'm having a 750ml Left Hand Widdershins (Barley Wine), a very nice/tasty brew, clocks in at 10% Oaked Aged. Also, some brats and steak on the grill.

What's your opinion on barley wines? I have yet to try one but I may pick one up soon..

They are very hoppy, but some are on the malty side. I truly love them, but they will kick your ***, LOL Some of my favorites are Victory Old Horizontal, North Coast Old Stock Ale, Great Divide Old Ruffian, Dogfish Head Olde School, Lagunitas Olde Gnarlywine, Deschutes Mirror Mirror, and an Old Classic Sierra Nevada Bigfoot, the 07 is suppose to be the best/hoppiest to date or at least for the last few years. I still have not tried the 06 and 07, but I do have bottles of each and ready to do a comparision soon, the 06 is at least over a year old and the 07 is from Jan of this year. Give them a try, you just might like them.

My second for today is a Smuttynose Finest Kind IPA, my first for this brewery and very tasty. The brats and hamburger are ready to go as well, LOL

I think I just drank a few sips of an expired bottle of Guinness draught... :(

So I'm finishing off all the beers in my fridge with a final Sam Adams cherry wheat. Not sure if I'll buy more or try to keep my drinking limited to restaurants and bars.

Sorry to hear that.

A very tasty brew today for me Stone Vertical Epic 06-06-06.

Still have some of that, do you? Very nice beer. :up I just saw the other day that Stone is bringing their 07-07-07 to the Oregon Brew Fest in July. I guess the timing finally works out this year, 'cause they've never brought one of the Vertical Epics before.

Myself, I had a Green Flash Imperial IPA. I like this one a lot, kind of an interesting herb/floral hops taste at first sip, very nice overall. I will definitely get some more of this. I have one of their barleywine's in the fridge now, I've never tried that before.

Yup, still also have another bottle of the Vertical Epic 06. Also, have two bottles of 10th Annv. and 2 RIS 06. I have two bottles of the Green Flash West Coast IPA, a buddy one of these days is suppose to send me a Barleywine, it should be nice. If I can, I will get some of the 07-07-07 as well.

two new brews for me this evening. first, a Starr Hill brewing (charlottesville, va) Jomo Lager. pretty tasty golden lager.

the second is a sierra nevada bigfoot ale. this one is a little stronger tasting than the other sierra nevada beers that i've had before.

Today a Newport Storm 06, an American Strong Ale, 12.2% ABV, 750ml, very tasty. Also a grilled brat, steak, potatoe salad. A nice overcasted day.

Tonight I'm having a brew a buddy sent me for Christmas, a Left Hand 10th Annv. Oaked Aged Imperial Stout, pretty tasty.

Well I didn't hold to my promise and am now enjoying some Full Sail Pale Ale.

On a side note, I picked up a 1/2 pint of Beefeater and some tonic water to try a mixed drink.

another new one for me last night ... this one was starr hill's "amber ale".

john - i'm not sure about the year of the bigfoot brew the other night. i didn't take time to check that out. older brews are better ?????
