Beer Time

Today, my first grilling of the year. Having some brats and ribs. For the brew's a couple of Troegs, first up a Rugged Trail Nut Brown Ale, tasty; second a very tasty brew, Hopback Amber Ale, nice and hoppy, just the way I like them. Almost forgot, watching the Bruins/Wild game.

tonight was a corona extra and a smuttynose old brown dog ale. kinda hard to compare the two .... one has alot of flavor, one has alot less flavor. maybe it's just too early in the year for the coronas !!!!

Today I had..

Paulaner Salvator Doppelbock - Crisp, sweet, obviously in the lager family. Went down smooth and left a nice warmth with 7.5% ABV.

Old Rasputin Russian Imperial Stout - Very dark, almost buttery taste, incredibly complex. For the nearly 9% alcohol content, you can only taste the flavor of the brew. Excellent beer.

Spring is here! Today grilling some steak/brats. Having a excellent brew as well, New Holland Dragon's Milk Ale, a real surprise to me, very tasty. Might have something else later. Anyone else enjoying the day with a brew?

john . . iv been gone a while . . i still gotta upload those pictures i said i was gonna get showing off my buddies beer stash . . .

so have you ever had el toro brews ( im not about to read the last 600 posts on this thread, sorry - im a lazy jerk)

Never had any el toro brew's yet. Never had poppy jasper. We have not gotten any of the Long Shot brew's in Utah, I have a trade going for a couple of them though.

so i tried a new ale last night. it's by magic hat brewing company in burlington, vt. this one is called the "#9 flavored not quite pale ale".

there is this one little convenience store on my way home from work that is the "last chance" for beer before i get home. they sell the basic bud & bud light type of stuff, but always have sierra nevada pale ale. i generally try to stop at a place that has a much better selection, but the weather was bad and i wanted to get home.

i had not seen this beer there before, but it turned out to be a pretty good brew. middle gold color and very tasty. i'll have to watch for others from this brewery.

I have a few bottles of some Magic Hat ready to be had shortly. If you see other's check them out. There are some good reviews on BA.

Happy Sunday,

Today having a Belgian Strong Pale Ale, Delirium Tremens. Might have something lined up for later as well. Will be doing the usual grilling of brats and some short ribs today, accompanied with some potatoe salad. Hope everyone has a great day, and if you are enjoying today with a brew, please chime in. Cheers!

Wow, alot of beer lovers here. For some reason I am just having a hard time getting used to beer. I am used to drinking vodka or something like that. Any suggestions on a good beer to get used to? Kind of a beginners beer?

You have quite a few breweries in your area, especially Duck Rabbit, their Imperial Porter is suppose to be really great, I have a couple of bottles, but have not tried yet. I would checkout your local micro's first and go from there. A nice lager, pils, brown ale, porter, stout, or even ipa would be a good choice. Just experiment till you find something you like. Take a look over at beeradvocate.com for some suggestions. Let's us know what you start trying out. Cheers!

Party obviously last night at bar, then we went to friends house to chill, so while everyone was drinking their cheap beer, girl and I decided to run over the a place here that carries basically everything. Grabbed some Dogfishhead 60 IPA, kinda mixed on it. Not bad, just seemed real heavy, 2 of those and I didn't want to drink anymore, really filling beer.

I still think Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is #1, love that stuff:chuckle:

Ok I change my mind, I just had another Dogfishhead 60 minute IPA and really lik eit now, guess it was b/c it was a new taste and I had to get used to it. Still a beer that I can't see drinking 2-3 w/o feeling full, has a heavy quality to it.

So I give it a :2thumbs: , but still feel overall Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is the best.

I didn't do any st. patty's day related drinking, but I had a pint of Schwelmer Hefeweizen and thought it was probably the best HW I've had to date, and it was decently priced at <$3. I also had a Pete's Wicked Wanderlust Cream Ale earlier that day that was decent.

I also bought a Chimay Ale but never got around to drinking it.
