Beer Time

So far this week I've had a Boulevard Bully! Porter and a Kreb's Choctoberfest. I'll probably enjoy a Sierra Nevada Stout today since the weather is a beautiful 75* and sunny.

last night was a german lager called "paulaner". this is a very light golden color with fine lacing. not a stong tasting beer at all.

tonight is a bell's pale ale. this one has a little stronger beer taste to it.

the 120 min IPA is $10 a bottle here in northern virginia. it has to be a totally awesome beer that that price. what's the most you've ever spent for a bottle of beer?

$25 Golden Valley Brut vs. IPA, so far.

I've noticed a lot of beersnobs (exuse the term) seem to prefer higher %ABV as their tastebuds progress. Stouts (RIS in particular) and IPAs appear to be top choice by a lot of beer ratings, but why?

I tried some Full Sail IPA the other night and it kicked the $hit out of my tastebuds..

BUT I redeemed the moment with some Newcastle.. great stuff.

Hard to say why. I love all kinds of brew's so far. Higher ABV brew's are awesome though. Only have to have a couple, lol Also it does have to do with the taste buds changing.

A couple of friends sent me some Boulevard brews, Bully Porter being one. Should be some nice brew's, I hear.

Try the Paulaner Salvator.

I have not had a chance to check out many of the different microbrews except for Ditka's Red Ale. The first time I tried it, I was in hog heaven because it was quite smooth for a beer.

Second is a Chinese Beer called Tsing Tao. Good taste

Worst beer: Italian Beer....UGH!!!

Prinz- You really like Tsing Tao? I found it incredibly dry the last time I had it.

Tonight I had the pleasure of trying out a lambic. Got a 12oz bottle of Lindemann's Pomme and it was quite delicious and sour, a good change of pace.

Had a couple more today...

Pyramid Apricot Weizen - Nice apricot tones, smooth taste, decent drink.

Samuel Smith's Oatmeal Stout - WOW, what a great beer! Incredibly complex and just sweet enough to notice. If it weren't for the $3.00/12oz price, I'd be buying this stuff regularly.

Samuel Adams White Ale - A nice seasonal brew with some obvious spicy/herb hints. Quality is consistent with the rest of the brand. I think maybe the spices are good initially, but it's not a quality I'd look for in a session beer.

I'm really not a beer drinker at all, but I went to the Yardhouse a couple weeks ago and got a Mako White...man, that was delish!

My buddy had a "Fat Tire" or "Flat Tire" (can't remember), also, very good.

a couple of sierra nevada porters over the weekend, along with a corona extra. spring is coming !!!
So tasty, have a nice case right here, but after last night going out late....no beer right now, still feeling blahhh lol.

Today, I'm finally getting around to this brew, which I've been sitting on for a few months. A very nice seasonal, Dogfish Head Punkin Ale, very tasty.

After hearing all your positive reviews about DFH beers, I was crushed to hear from my local liquor store that we can't get any of it here..

Nonetheless,,there's many more beers to keep me busy..:chuckle:

Don't feel bad, I do not get them here in UT as well. I have to trade for them or buy them on-line. Cool, there are thousands of excellent brew's out there. DFH makes big beer's, and are some of the best out there. If you can ever get your hands on some, do it.
