Beer Time

Stopped by a local brewpub that I've posted a link to before for lunch and had a Deranger. It's their seasonal Imperial Red Ale. 100 IBU's and 7.9% ABV, deep red color, fabulously hoppy, it's definitely one of my favorites in a while.

Number two for the night, a Hair Of The Dog Rose, a Tripel, different to style. I really like it, slightly tangy, flowery, nice touch of spices, and some caramel.

Tonight a Smuttynose Big A IPA, Bomber, it's a Double IPA clocking in at 9.2% ABV. Lots of hops, piney, grapefruity, with a nice touch of caramel. If you can get your hands on some do it.

That one's on my to-try list, I haven't gotten around to looking for some yet. Maybe I'll have to get started trading on BA finally (although we're in the process of trying to move right now, so I've been hesitant to start shipping stuff around and have to worry about forwarding packages, etc.).

Tonight, for me, was a couple Stone IPA (always a favorite, I love the floral hops in this) and a Green Flash Nut Brown Ale (probably not my favorite brown, it has a little more bite than I'd like, not quite as smooth as I think a brown should be).

Another brew tonight, a Geary's Hampshire Special Ale, it's a English Strong Ale, very tasty, slightly bitter, very malty, with some spices and caramel.

Bridgeport IPA tonight, always a favorite.

Also, at this time I'll put out the 4 week warning for anyone in the Portland area. The 2007 Oregon Brewers Festival is coming up. It's the last weekend in July, and it's always a fantastic time hanging out at Waterfront Park enjoying a lot of different beers (you can see the beer list here). So, if anyone's in the area, I highly encourage you to check it out. I'll be there all day on Friday (taps are open from noon to 9pm).

A few different beers for me tonight, 2 old favorites and 1 new one.

Bridgeport Blue Heron. Always a tasty brew, especially when the weather gets warm.

Green Flash West Coast IPA. Very nice IPA, becoming one of my favorites.

and the new brew:

Stone Vertical Epic 07.07.07: This is their newest epic, a mixture of a belgian saison and something else, i don't have the bottle in front of me now. It's brewed with a mixture of spices, doesn't just rely on the yeast and malt for the spice flavors. I have to say, belgian's are not usually my favorite, but I'll give anything from Stone a try, and this was very, very tasty. No overpowering flavors, just a very good balanced flavor with some sweetness and a little spice. It says it should cellar below 55 degrees, and I don't have any way of doing that in my house, but I'd be really interested to see how it ages.

I picked up 2 bottles of the Vertical Epic, one I will have soon, the other I will age for awhile. Thanks for the review.

So far a couple of new brew's tonight. First up a Blue Point Toasted Lager, pretty tasty, second up a Long Trail Double Bag, another tasty brew.
