56 Chevy Bel Air, Show Car Quality, 32+ Hours

Nice work & documentation on the process Josh. Tell us how it places in the show. The Autorama in Detroit is the largest and most prestegious event for Hot Rodders all year round. How does this one compare?

I was waiting for someone to ask about the lug nut cleaner.

BTW, I would like to know also.

In regards to the detail. That is absolutely AWESOME. :2thumbs:

Who says white can't look good.

Thanks for the great write up.

Ray.

I would love info on the lug nut cleaner. I have been to two Walmarts and can't find the brush he is talking about.

Josh,

What was the name of that lug nut cleaner tool that you got from Walmart?

LUG NUT BRUSH INFO!!!

Lug Nut Brush

Each walmart may carry different things, but I did a search and found them at Top of the Line for like $3.50, way more expensive, but whatever, it's worth it. I'd buy a few.

Great brush, best thing I've found for wheels in a long time.

Awesome. Thanks for the pic Josh. I actually have one of those brushes so now I know what you are talking about. I think I got mine at Pep Boys.

Now THAT is a detail!

I always find the REALLY long details to start fun, get kinda crappy in the middle, and then become a labor of love (and really enjoyable) towards the end. :waxing:

Great job Josh. I love that color of blue (it's the color of my truck) because I very rarely see cars that color. Many are a lighter blue or dark navy blue. Everything looks great. Did you have to do any wetsanding?

On the lug nut brush, I got one just like it at Autozone, so you might check there if you can't find it at Walmart.

I just happened to find mine at Wallyworld, but where ever you can find them, buy them, they work great.

Just a little wetsanding on two isolated scratches, one came out the other did not.....not even after all that buffing either, so I did not pursue it. The paint on this car was really scarry, many low spots that you could nearly see threw it. I opted not to post pics of them cause I think it would take away from the whole purpose of the thread.

Here are some pics of the ol Chevy on display from the show. Dallas Autorama 2008.
