I agree with that! He provided great information about M105.



I thought I had it figured out with my Flex but I proved myself wrong a few nights back. I've heard how great M105 on a purple foamed wool pad works with a Flex but I'm not sold yet. I did experience exactly what Kevin referred to with the polish building up on the edge of the pad. I did however mist the pad with my ONR QD solution... so it sounds like I may have been doomed before I started :nixweiss Whodaknown??? :D



Any advice on this?? I'd really like to learn to use this polish because I know the potential is there.

Can you give us more information?



Specifically: machine speed, applied force, pad prime, follow-up polishing (if any), surface condition after polishing, etc...
 
My experience with M105 and the Flex on Honda paint:



2 X M105 with PFW

I didn't have as much luck on the trunk, but it could just be how really horrendous the car really was...I did 3 passes with M105 on the trunk.

Flex speed 6.

Not much force applied to the pad at all.

Misted pad with ONR QD solution and applied a bead of M105 in a "corkscrew fashion" starting from the middle of the pad outward for the first application. Afterwards I put a bead across the pad or laid a bead down on the surface that I was working on.

Swirl marks were certainly reduced. I did get plenty of dusting and spots that needed to be removed by another pad/polish because the residue was stuck so badly to the paint.

I followed up with OP but the test subject was white and it is very hard to notice if additional polishing is/was needed.



Thanks A TON for helping out with this! I'd like to perfect my process with this combo to tackle some decent defect removal with the Flex. :cool:
 
I know Kevin stated that the M105 should not dust at all unless your using to much product..I did get dust but only when the pad would hit an edge or something, if it was kept on a flat surface without hitting anything it would produce very minimal dust, if any. Im sure he will chime in here to help you out on your specific machine. In the meantime, I will be making the detail thread on this car and you can see my results!

If using foam pads (as opposed to wool), be sure to keep them *VERY* clean (as in nice open pores); don't let any dried product build up around the edge as it can supposedly cause some serious problems. No first-hand experience with said problems here as I've been fanatical about keeping the pads clean, even if it means stopping in mid-panel. Excess/old product cleans out of my pads very easily with a spritz of #34 and some rubbing with a cotton towel.



And yeah, the dusting has been minimal IME, at least compared to other products with this degree of cut. I'm still sorta wowed by how impressive the M105 is in all regards, works *super* by Flex even on really hard paint, works quite well by PC/4" too.
 
And according to Meg's the new version of 105 has much less dusting than the current one. I believe "no dusting" may have even been thrown out but I don't remember for sure,
