My Favorite New Wax (The Japanese Souveran)

Well today my father dropped by Autobacs down on beach blvd. and bought me a little something. He got me the Soft99 Authentic Premium Pure Nuba which is their top wax for $18.99. My first impression was the packing was very Japanese, neat and interesting. It even came with a little tool with a top opener, brush and pick that has its own compartment on the top lid. When I first opened it I was surprise by how white the wax was and reminded me of pinnacle souveran. I ran into my garage and got the souveran out and compared the two. The authentic premium was slightly whiter than the souveran. Also souveran has that really sweet annoying smell while the authentic hardly had a smell.

Well I couldn't wait anylonger so I wiped a panel clean on my black rx-8 and applied the authentic premium. I wipped off immediately after I finished covering the pannel as the directions said not to let the wax completly dry. Wow, the results were awsome, very wet and slick kinda reminded me of p21s. Compared to souveran I think souveran has a slight edge with its famous "glow" but I must say for $18.99 its a impressive wax. I think this wax is some where between p21s and souveran. Anyways I just love this wax and will continue buying it when I run out, maybe I'll buy their other waxes as they have many different varieties to chose from. So if your in socal and drop by autobacs it couldn't hurt to try out this wax, its only a little over $20 with tax. I'll prob do the whole car next week, I'll try to post some pics up.

looks very nice, I wont mention us Brits have to pay £40 for souveran (approx $60)

Thats nothing compared to the Zymol prices though!! ;)

I have three tubs of that stuff. It's awesome, isn't it? I use it as my summer wax. I goes on so smoothly and a little really goes a long way. The special applicator that comes with it really helps it spread around. Glad I'm not the only one with it!

It used to be that this was the best wax from Soft99. They actually have another one called Soft99 Authentic Excellent. I don't have that (yet). ;)

Is this stuff one of the best or most expensive you guy's go to when it comes to using nothing but the best? The reason I ask is that we all know there are products out there that are much less expensive and seem to protect, shine and do an all around beautiful job. What sets this stuff aside as a better product?

I'm sure if I owed some of the cars that you guys own I would want nothing but the best but what makes one wax/ sealer so much better than another? I'm not one to go by name or price for deciding factors when it comes to the "best", Mike

Is there a distributor for this stuff in the US?

The only distributor of this wax that I know of is www.autobacsusa.com , but I don't think its available from their web store.

I havn't heard of authentic excellent, maybe when I go back to japan to visit my family I'll look for it. Have any of you guys used the authentic gold, silver or titanium? Whats your take on these compared to the premium?

many consider PS to be one of the best looking waxes but it isn't very durable.

Souveran seem to loose its glow after a week or so...

I was getting about a month of great appearance with Souveran and a bit longer with a bi-weekly spritz of Crystal Mist. About as good as many carnaubas I have tried except maybe Collinite but C doesn't look nearly as awesome.

Thanks Wannafbody. That seems to be true of many of the waxes on the market today. Good to know these things and thanks to you guy's on here I'm learning new things every day. Mike

If you go to Soft99's site, you can see their entire line up. They may have streamlined their Authentic series to just offer "Authentic Premium" and "Authentic Original". They used to have Authentic Gold(their best known wax) and a couple of others, but it looks like they've discontinued them. I'm sure the Premium is their top grade carnauba. They also have a lot of specialty waxes and sealants...some that claim to fill minor swirls and others dedicated to your type/color of paint...pretty interesting.
