Zymol poor customer service

Supe, you've got a point there. The stuff is amazing at any thickness level.

Do you guys have any issues with smearing from over application? My black Mazda paint is very difficult to deal with when it comes to carnauba and smearing is next to impossible to avoid when it comes to a wax. Even if I successfully apply it, as soon as I wash it the wax smears and I have to QD to get ride of it.

If I did take the plunge and purchase Vintage I would expect not to have to QD to get a perfect finish.

I do not have smearing (or haze....greasy) issues with vintage, and similarly with Concours. I did notice, however, that if you put too much of it on at a single time, that you can have smearing or haziness issues. Thus, it is beneficial that you do not do too much too soon. You have to put an EG on one layer at a time IMO.

Conversely, I have found that with some QDs used liberally over an EG finish at times have produced haze and grease (notoriously with zymol's field glaze). You have to be careful with the QDs as well; Just a little will go a very long way with a zymol.

Guess I will stick with Souveran and Fuzion as my high end waxes.

I agree with that. I just ordered some RBOE to add to the collection. Those 3 will be my waxes of choice.

Same here just empty it and send it straight back. I too can not anyone to answer or return my calls.

I'm in the same boat. I sent my cube in for a refill on Feb 26. I called Diane prior to shipping off the cube to let her know it was coming, and to find out how long it would take. She said three weeks max. It's now been four weeks. I can't get anyone there to answer the phone now.

Since it's taking them so long to turn refills around, I think I'll just empty my cube into another container (assuming I ever get it back), and immediately return it for another refill.

kind of a sad story IMO. Theres a small club here of you folks that shelled out the money for this high-end product, and with the debate of "is it worth the price" you folks are the best people to endorse this product you love. Could you imagine a bunch of ferrari owners having so much trouble that everyone begins to turn to lamborghini?

The worst of all of it is not the 5-7 weeks. It's you can't be given a straight answer. Surely you may not be thrilled, but you would understand if they told you six weeks and it took six weeks. I can't imagine giving a client a 150 dollar estimate that turns into $450.

I'd like to give this company the benefit of the doubt and think an unusually high amount of people have sent in their tubs as prep for the coming warmer weather...

i think i'll stick with my souveran and supernatural v2.02 (though wish it was a tub of the 2.0 more grainy stuff like my 30ml sample is). Maybe it's good to not be a baller like you guys :)

interesting experiences guys....

I was very recently right on the edge of buying Vintage, after experiencing the joys of using it myself, but didnt for a couple of reasons. One of which was the sheer cost of the refill shipping from the UK - currently about £250 is the best estimate  That really doesnt make for very 'free refills' for us as I could buy a LOT of wax for the cost of my free refill ;)

Hearing about the poor service as well just reinforces my decision NOT to give Zymol any of my money...

Wait a durned minnit...where do you ship it to be refilled? I thought the stuff came from England in the first place...or somewhere in that dang ol' EU...

I figured that was part of Supe's problem, is he ships it to Zymol USA and then they have to ship it to the factory, which I thought was in jolly ol' or somewhere in Europe...

When I use Vintage, I do it when I know I have at least 12 hours for my car to be parked. I do four total wipedowns. The first is, of course, to remove the wax residue. I do the second three hours later to get off any residual oils, and the haze that will sometimes develop. Wipedowns three and four are after the 12 hours is up. Wipedown three is just a quicky with a Eurow MF. Number four is spit polishing... spraying refrigerated distilled water on the paint and using it as a quick detailer. Not only does this make the surface shimmer and glow, but it also seems to "set" the wax, and increases it's durability. Vintage *really* likes to be spit shined with cold distilled water.

souveran and fuzion continue to be my go to pastes...

if prep is 95% of the look, why spend 2200 on a wax and only 40 bucks on a polish....hmmmm

Yeah, they do a great job cultivating that elegant Euro image.

They're based in jolly ol' North Branford, Connecticut.

Thanks for that. Interesting technique. I'll give it a go with my Vic Concourse and see if I can get results.

I read somewhere recently, that Zymol were part owned, or maybe even fully owned, by TurtleWax. Is that correct?

Turtle Wax pays Zymol royalties for using their name.

The inexpensive Zymol liquid cleaner/wax you find in discount stores is made by Turtle Wax under license from Zymol.

Hence the nickname around here, Zyrtlewax.

Supe, that's the routine I follow as well. A fresh Vintage layer (or any EG....even most waxes IMO) with the cold water wipedown makes the look that much sharper! Its much better to do the staged wipedown routine, bc just one or two wipes may not settle all of the oils left on the car.

As for the shipping issue, you'll have to judge your location from Zymol's plant (CT) to anticipate the expected shipping cost. Vintage is not an EASY product to purchase, due to the price and the shipping hassle. That is the main reason why I refrain from recommending (Edit: to all except the Accumulator....because he is a grown up, and I know he can take it *Heh Heh*)it until one has tried and compared some of the other zymols to their own taste as well as to other competing waxes. If you're not sure whether a good zymol will compete against other lsps in your eyes, then you're better off not purchasing the Vintage.
