Zaino Missing Big Boat

This is interesting since I hv Z2pro and Z8 ready for a trial, but my ZFX dried up recently. I refuse to spend almost $30 for a new little vial.

ZFX is $19.95 and lasts a while but it has an 18 month warranty from drying out. Sal will probably just send you a new vial.

I was mistaken about ZFX - it does improve drying time but as ZaneO suggested it helps with bonding so the performance increases as well. It creates more durability, more slickness, and higher gloss retention.

Having said that, I used Z-2 Pro without ZFX on my wife's gold Camry and it looks incredible.

Well you were right about Sal. He is on my A list right now.

Looks like I will get to use my Zaino products the correct way very soon! :D

The ZFX debate will be never ending. IMO I tried Z2 this pat summer with out the ZFX (already had a few coats on from a previouse detail a month before.). The gloss and slickness just weren't there. It seems using the ZFX helped the slickness and added a bit more gloss. It kinda made the finish "harder" or more durable you could say. Anyhow, I use the ZFX every time I apply a coat or two.

Cool, but this is Sal's normally great customer services.....even on Saturday!!!

I've been a Zaino user since about 2001... Couple years ago I ran out of both zfx & z1 and put off ordering z1 till I needed more z5/z2...

With just using z5 on friends/families vehicles I haven't noticed any difference in durability/shine. Six, seven months later, their vehicles still bead water superbly.

Apparantly his philosophy is to have a business model that caters to the home enthusiast where he enjoys legions of loyal followers.

Growing and expanding his product sizes dillutes from his hands on, quality controlled, manageable business model that has already made him quite sucessfull.

This is what seperates him from the majority of the car care industry and makes him unique. That's what's nice about Zaino; he doesn't water down his selections with mass consumption alternatives that you want.

There are enough "Wal Mart" car care companies and retailers out there with many products that don't live up to the hype and desired results. Not being part of that is something refreshing and admirable. I think it shows are true love of his product and desire to refine it further while maintaining top quality for EVERY product.
Agree, I don't use Zaino but I was a business major and own my own business in Real Estate. What Sal has done is carved a niche out that is plenty profitable to him that it wouldn't make sense to expand. Believe me, like any business, if he wanted to, he could easily expand the line...however there's a reason he doesn't ;) . If I was him I wouldn't either, just like another business here I might buy down the road from the owner. It caters to phone companies but has it's own niche with some online servicers with really no competition, this has enabled the owner to have profits of 7+ figs a year witha small business and 5 employees. Like he said, he could have easily expanded but he would lose the control and niche he has.

Me too. I just don't understand why people make a fuss about mixing ZFX in one thread which takes all of 30 seconds and then in another thread spend loads of time mixing carnauba. There's just a lot of anti-Zaino bias out there based on my own reading.

I think you've answered your own question. Maybe people make a fuss because we are told it isn't a big deal to mix ZFX. In the end, it doesn't matter what the reasons are if someone flat doesn't want to do it. BTW, mixing Pink Wax and #16 was done only because I had a only a small amount of Pink Wax left and figured I was more likely to finish what I had if I mixed it with something else...and I only had to do it once.

For me personally, when I first came here to Autopia, I was told in couched terms what an idiot I was for using Meguiars and later Clearkote instead of Zaino (same deal on Honda-Acura.net because I didn't use Finish First). Left a really bad taste in my mouth. When I actually tried Zaino I was pleasantly suprised that it is indeed a good product. I just like Werkstatt more. Simple as that.

Sal is coming out with new products , a cleaner-sealant that can be used as a preprep for Z2 and Z5, and you dont need ZFX, and a clear sealant that can be put on over anything.

Those two products I am definitely interested in (despite what another member implied in the other thread). I want to see how they compare to the Werkstatt twins, seems to be a similar system...and if CS can lock in carnaubas on my own car, that would be great.

Do me a favor and find how many threads I've started about Zaino...

Now go find the threads I've started for other products...

ZaneO,

Your work is STELLAR -No need to justify the banter above AT ALL.

It's soooooooooo funny that Zaino gets this kind of 'hype'.

It must be a truly 'shi##y' product (LOL) ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Folks like "Scottwax" throw in their 2 cents EACH and EVERY post, but elect not to use Zaino for one reason or another. I don't get it -especially from a Sr. board member, but maybe it's just me.

I can't wait to see the next Optimum product -or is it Zaino Clear Seal, but just not as good (LOL).

stick a fork in this thread- ZFX isn't needed for the 2 new Zaino products and Sal isn't interested in offering bulk sizes because volume detailers aren't going to spend big bucks for Zaino.

If you don't want me to post, don't misrepresent why I chose not to use a product. That simple.

I feel its everyone's right to use whatever product they want. Just because folks don't fall to their knees and pray skyward after trying Zaino doesn't mean there is something wrong with them. I have tried Zaino. Its a nice product along with the other million product lines out there.

To each his own.

He's tried it, liked it, but to *him* other products are better. The zealots are the main reason I(and others I'm sure) are still hesitant to try out Zaino, no matter how great it may be.

I guess I'm looking at it from another angle.

I have purchased/used a few products that you tout, and have not been as enthused. I choose not to post about brand 'x' over and over again, but you are jumping in on most every zaino post with subtle digs on the product.

You're also posing as someone that has actually purchased and used Zaino several times. IMO it's a little misleading for those that don't know, and overstated for those that do.

Who cares? Are you so insecure that you can't handle some internet guy not liking the same car care product that you do? If you were Sal Zaino I could see you possibly having a care, but as was said in another thread, Sal is able to sell all the product he can make whether Scottwax likes it or not.
