I tried misting CS directly on the paint and it doesn't work if there is breeze at all. If you're working inside that method probably works fine.
 
So MGM, 1-2 mists per panel directly on the panel or applicator? Do you spread even if you cant see the residue like WANNAFBODY says? How long is the cure time, and are there any instances of uneven gloss or streaks? And if so how to take care of?

John, I have been running a test on cotton applicator re-usage after segregated CS usage and washing. Liquid detergent and a cap full of bleach and white vinegar (~2 oz) and after a second rinse with another 2 oz vinegar, I place in dryer. Works great and no ill-effects on next CS application (drying time, smearing and clarity). Pads remove soft and perform identical to new pads.

I cycle thru 10 CS pads between washings.:wavey

I'm currently using fresh applicators for the paint. When they start getting dirty, they move over to my collection for wheels, jams, engine. Past that I wash them, and retire them for tire dressing chores until they're shot.
 
Great write up John! I am glad to know the durability and to know it was still going strong after 6 months. That's one thing that I have not tested yet, cause I have only been using it for a couple of months so far. What I do know about CS is the added gloss it gives to z5 and is more noticable from a distance like 20 feet. I love what it does to moldings and black trim the best. Then the best part of all...z8 on top of cs is just pure wow. I can't wait to do a red car and a champaine color car with this stuff.

Thanks for sharing John! I am wondering how much longer I am going to wait for polishing on the wifes car. After 5 months of 3x Z5pro w/ ZFX and CS, its still holding up very well.

What is TPE trim?



I'll agree that there are other LSP's that have multiple uses, but I've seen none as versatile as CS.



CS works well on textured plastic trim as seen on our Tahoe's wheel flares, running board step pads, roof rack trim pieces, and bumper pads.



I've also been misting it in the front door jams (hard to reach areas, that lead into the front quarter panels. Wipe them clean, mist a trigger or 2 of CS, and your done.
 
So to clarify the differences in application you spray the CS directly onto the paint? Also have any of you had problems with unequal gloss or wind effecting the outcome when applying directly to paint.



So any of y'all mist pad instead of paint and spread?

Dave, CS works over Werstatt and many LSP's (waxes) from my testing over the last 8 months. I have not found any LSP that CS doesn't react as expected.



Andrew, I am a direct pad spritzer and this is my preferred method indoors or outdoors.

CS is self leveling when applied by either method so uneven appearance is nearly impossible.
 
I did not have that type of beading at all after even a month. But different strokes I guess. What do you have under your CS.

As I understand it, you need to work the CS into the paint, so an uneven spritz on the surface shouldn't matter after you work it in.

ThermoPlastic Elastomer. It's that not quite rubber, not quite plastic stuff that is sometimes at the base of windshields, CV joint boots, etc.
 
I applied CS to my daily driver PU about 3 days after it came out. My truck sits outside 24/7 and it still beads like crazy ( a couple of tunnel washes too ) and is still slick.



Nothing is going to have the durabilty of CS. I have tested tons of products that have claimed durabilty and a lot that guys here claim last longer than Zaino. Umm nope, zaino is still king for durability.



Looks are subjective and I personally ,for my car don't care about durability. I love the looks of CS on my 2006 Speed6 in velocity red mica. I love the look of Zaino and CS is just the icing on the cake.



For my truck and wifes van durability is a concern. Here is my testing for durability on both and friends and families cars.

2.DG 105/AW

3.JW PA/AJ PA/AJT just me but is seems AJ lasts longer than AJT ( same product I know ?? ) PS/CJ

Although durability might not be "subjective" like appearance, you must also take climate and things into the equation. I did not have the same love affair with CS, although I love Z5 pro. I CANNOT see a difference in the appearance when applied to our White Volvo or our Black H2. But I am glad that many people have found the product that suits them.

- After your initial application of CS, how long did the car dry/cure before it saw moisture (even dew at night)?

- How many miles does the car see between washes?

CS was applied in dry conditions (sunny day), in our garage. The temps were in the mid-60's. The roof did not see any dew/condensation build up, etc.... until the 1st wash, which was 5 days later.



The Tahoe See's 200-300 miles between washes.

I'll be in Daytona next week and plan to test ZAIO/CS in similar conditions. My In-Laws have beach front property (i.e. sand, salt-water), so this should be a decent Florida test.:usa

Light colors don't show changes well. I can see a slight difference between ZAIO and Z5pro on teal and blue. Remember CS is clear and glossy so it simply locks in the look of what is under it.

I have both a black truck and a white car. So are you saying that the people that report that CS "looks outstanding" are missing something?
