Yuck - look what's just turned up for a detail...

Just a quick update!



The interior is finished and I'm pretty impressed with the results considering what it was like to start with. The exterior is on hold until I get hold of a solvent based cleaner for the paint work (hopefully tomorrow). I went though half a clay bar (pictured below) on one door, and I'm simply not prepared to sacrifice 5 or 6 (or more - who knows?) whole bars to get what is essentially a beater clean.



This was after I had kneaded it for the final time, desperately trying to geta bit more life out of it!

A few days. I'm really busy doing other stuff at the moment so don't get a lot of time to work on it. I'm getting fed up of it hanging over me now though so want to crack on and get it done.

In the future, you may want to consider a DECON system to not only clean the finish surface/sub-surface, but also save you time and money.

I could of used a decon system today.
 
I gave up with clay after that door and got some Preptone from a local Autosmart distributor. Spray on, let dwell, wipe off - marvellous stuff!

I've finally found a combination that works on the stupidy soft paint that this car has, and that's happened by me rediscovering Optimum polish. I'd dismissed it earlier in the year because "it took so long to break down", but it doesn't actually take that long to break down. It takes about the same amount of time as other polishes to break down, but takes much longer to dry up, which means I can wipe it off wet and not instill any marring in the finish.



Anyway, now I can finally get on with it and hopefully have it finished in the next day or two.



(Those white marks are all stone chips, not chunks of polish!)

Looking at the pics from page 1 I def thought it was a black car, but, BLUE! I checked whether you play a joke on us here....., but no, same car.... (see scratch on door). Wow, no let's see the final result, please.
 
Wow, Ben, I am seriously impressed with the difference between the fender and the door! I can hardly wait to see the finished detail. :)
