As mentioned in an earlier post, the Merc has been sold and the purchaser didn't want to wait for me to finish it (even though I would have actually put some effort in and got it done in a day, rather than do it in drips and drabs like I had been to that point).
As such, I didn't even get the chance to take any real decent photos, but you'll get a good idea what it would have turned out like nonetheless. I'll start with the outside as that wasn't finished. There are some pics further up in the thread, but here's another couple showing the extent to which I could correct the paint. Some of the scratches were down to the primer, so obvioulsy weren't going to budge.
My process was #84/cutting pad, #83 polishing pad and then optimum polish with a polishing pad, all by PC even though Meg's suggest #84 is reserved for rotary only.

As you can see, it would have come up OK had I only been given the chance to finish it. I may well see it in the furture to be finished, but the purchaser appareatly really isn't fussed so I don't hold out much hope.
The interior I did finish and my process basically comprised spending a hell of a long time with a vacumn, a hell of a long time with an extractor, and a hell of a long time with #39 and a scrub brush. I even had to scrub and extract the sun visors they were so grubby. The only chemical I used other than #39 was a local firm's extraction shampoo and some laundry stain remover.
Some of the marks just weren't going to shift, but I was amazed how well it came up, and more importantly, so was the client (my trader friend). After I'd extracted everything (including the headlining), I used Autosmart's Aromatek system with a neutralazing cartridge to get rid of the wet dog smell. This creates dry vapour, encapsulates, and actually removes odours rather than just masking them. I was a bit dubious at first, but it really does work.
Anyway enough of my gassing, on to the pics. You'll see a couple of spots that just won't come out, but overall, I think the interior went from "unsaleable" to "OK, a couple of stains but we can live with them". The carpet is clean (well, as clean as you could get it), I just didn't bother to brush it all the same way.
In the end it left with a clean interior, half the bodywork polished out (but no LSP), the other half of the hood and the other two doors taken to #83 and the rest left untouched. This kind of left me a bit pi$$ed off really as considering I'd spent so much time on it already I wanted to at least finish the job, but it wasn't to be and I've got to accept that. Oh, it also had one dressed tyre as I'd tried a new dressing out earlier on and hadn't got round to doing the other three yet!
Saying that, I can't say I'll be racing to get another car in this condition! I've proved I can deal with cars in a foul condition and I've learnt how to deal with situations like this, but let's just hope I never have to put those new found skills into practice again!
