Yuck - look what's just turned up for a detail...

Wow! That is gross.

Are those seats fabric? I don't think I've ever seen fabric seats in an M-B before.

Did I miss the "after" pics?

Nope it hasn't been done yet. I've been so busy this last week I haven't even touched the damn thing other than spend three hours vacuuming the dog hair out and doing half the armrest with #39 to see just how foul the interior is. Am hoping to have a good go (at the interior at least) tomorrow...

Here's a pic of the arm rest to show you how grubby it is. The clean side had two applications of #39 with a nail brush.

Wow, Im just speechless! I have also never seen an M-B with cloth before, just "MB-Tex" or leather. Have you formulated a plan of attack for this cespool of a car yet?

Plan of attack is:

1. Extract all the carpets.

2. Scrub all the vinyl down wth #39.

3. Get all the glass.

4. Try and rescue the seats.

5. Dress all the vinyl.

Then it's onto the outside!

Ben

Well I've extracted the entire interior now - carpets, seats, sun visors, even the headlining! Over 40 litres of extraction fluid went into the car and as you might expect it's now a bit damp. I'm borrowing a friend's body shop oven though and we're going to park it in there for a few hours to dry it out.

A couple of teasers:

A shot of the truck during extraction (you should be able to work out what's done and what isn't!)

The colour of the extraction water

Will keep you posted...

Ohhh man, this is certainly gonna be a contender for the Xtreme Detail Contest!

What cleaner are you using in your extractor?

This is going to be great to follow! Looking real good so far.

As far as the seats, if you have a steam cleaner, you can throw a towel over the attachment and steam the seats to loosen and melt all the dirt. Then go over with a damp towel to wipe and follow with a cleaner for whatever material those seats are. But I'm sure you have your routine. It's just that a steamer does wonders on seat stains.

After you steam the seats, use the extractor. I bet those stains are all through the foam inside and you really need to pull it all out, or as the seats dry, the stains will pull up and to the surface. Next day, ugly seats again. Guess how I know this???? :lol

Hurry up with the detail, the suspense is killing me!

I'm getting there - but as this is fitting in around everyting else I'm doing at the moment (including moving house!) it's going to take some time. Interior should be finished today, then I have to start on the exterior :scared:
