The um "official" reason he didn't go

He had "short time to prepare".... Really?????

Let's see.... President of the United States....Cabinet at his beck and call 24 x 7......Will do whatever he asks of them, 24 x 7.....He could have said - " get me to Paris at (you pick the date and time).... Staff would have done exactly that.......IF he had asked them to do this......Staff would have even packed his clothes, written him a speech, etc...

And reading that bottom banner of the picture --- CenCom got hacked.......

CenCom Idiots- what the heck are you doing on non-secured Twitter, etc., in the FIRST PLACE, and WHY did you NOT THINK, that you could not get hacked????

Does ANYONE know what the word SECURE CHANNELS means anymore ????

During my 6-years in the Military, I set up and used equipment that sent and received Classified Military Information across the world, 24 x 7, on a Secured Network that used Crypto equipment, that guess what - was never hacked...

We all had to have the highest level Security Clearance to even be in the same room with this stuff, and no one, absolutely no one ever even had the idea that " I dont like this, therefore, I am going to leak it out to the world" lame mentality"...

And now, we have lame brains using social media services and putting military information on them?????

And you wonder why gun sales have been going up incredibly for several years now???

I dont know which of the 2 evils is worse - the White House totally suppressing the Military from doing what needs to be done, and has been proven to work from wars of the past...
- the Military apparently losing its ability to keep its own back yard clean and free from bad stuff...

Geez.... I have to go outside now and cut a tree down or something...

Dan,

That makes too much sense. Therefore there has to be a different way.

You just gave me the only plausible reason......

No teleprompter.

Thank you, now I can make sense out of the reason he would not "Stand with the world"

America's top diplomat, who has French ancestry, did announce that he would travel to Paris on Thursday and would meet with French officials Friday.

"That is why I am going there on the way home and to make it crystal clear how passionately we feel about the events that have taken place there. I don't think the people of France have any doubt about America's understanding about what happened, about our personal sense of loss and our deep commitment to the people of France in this moment of trial."

White House: We should've sent bigger pol to Paris march - NY Daily News

Former President Carter, speaking in New York on Monday at the American Museum of Natural History, said the hoopla over the U.S. representation at the rally was overblown.

Obama's "just come back from vacation so he's probably got a lot on his desk," Carter told reporters.

As millions stood up for freedom of speech in the face of terrorism after Islamic extremists attacked the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, some say that America’s leadership as a whole, remained disengaged. At least that's the impression it has left.

The British press was not shy with one London Daily Mail headline that shouted, “America snubs historic Paris rally: Holder was there but skipped out early, Kerry was in India, Obama and Biden just stayed home.”

Jane Hartley, who raised more than $500,000 in campaign funds for President Obama, to carry thetorch.

That is historically how president's (and those surrounding them) reward contributors and other friends. In many cases, nominees have no clue about the country they are sent.

I know, but it was too good to waste

I was not even aware there was going to be a march but surprised other political types were not trying to get in on it for self-promotion such as any of the possible 2016 candidates. I wonder if it was because it was France since they had opposed our actions in Iraq -- remember Freedom Fries?

Nah

It was for World Leaders. Mebbe that's why Obama and Biden weren't there..........................

Seriously, IMHO it wasn't a time for political self promotion. It was a time to show the world that this crap won't be tolerated anymore.

We lost 3,000 in one attack, not to mention 4,000+ deaths in Iraq fighting terrorism and WMDs (supposedly), so pardon us for not sending top brass to France for losing 4-5 people, terrible as it was. I mostly judge POTUS on the economy, our economy is improving, so all is well as far as I'm concerned.

It was 12 individuals. I'm sure the other 7-8 families and friends care very much. It's a shame, judging by your lack of knowing how many were murdered, that you don't care.

Actually it is more than 3,000 lost in the attacks of 9/11. Many First Responders, Firefighters, Police Officers, and Trade Workers, are still dying from various diseases linked to working at the site.

Not sure where you get your information.
