It's been over 15 years since I've had a bike, a Honda Gold Wing. I'd love another bike, but I can't for the life of me decide what style I'd like to get. I like some of the BMWs, but just by coincidence 2 bikes of totally different styles that have caught my eye in the past couple of years both happen to be Triumphs, a brand I've never even ridden before. A couple years ago I was about to die for a red Daytona 955 that a dealer had parked out front. It was fully equipped with matching hard, removeable luggage and looked like the most beautiful bike I could remember seeing, but the timing was just wrong. I haven't found another quite like it. My ex had just left the house and our divorce was pending, so it was exactly the wrong time to be able to make a fairly major financial purchase. Then last month I stopped at a local Yamaha dealer and found that they also stock new Triumphs. They had a Triumph Rocket III in stock and while I have to admit the slab-sided, 3-cylinder engine is hardly a thing of beauty, the more I looked at that bike and thought about having a 2300 cc cruiser under me, I fell for it. Of course, it's hardly a cheap option as bikes go.

It's been long enough since I rode a motorcycle that I'd feel better if I could practice on a cheapo beater bike to get the hang of it again before laying out some big bucks, but with the price of gas they're few and far between.

Sigh, one of these days I WILL have a bike again!
