Worst thing you've ever seen a dealer do

To me, because the Zaino Bros only accept mail order is strange, I mean they advertise on the internet, and make a superior product. I would think they would have all of the payment options of a company( credit cards ordering, phone ordering). I expected click and buy type shopping, like all of the other places I order stuff off the internet do When I see how I order their products, it makes me think I am ordering from a couple of guys that make wax in their garage. Am I alone here?

I understand, but, it is what it is. Historically, Sal's focus was on product developement and individual customer service. He apparently did not set out to build a monster organization.

Sal's a clever guy. He makes the product hard to get so those who finally get it feel like they're part of an exclusive club. Once you're in a club like that, it is human nature to recruit others, to reinforce your own decision. The fact is Zaino IS good stuff (as a wax only - I don't think it fills swirl marks worth a damn) but it is equalled by other products costing less. If you believe some of the Zaino Zealots, this stuff dices, slices and makes julienne fries. Well, it smells good, lasts well and shines nice. But it is NOT a panacea.

<flame suit on...>

when i went to the site the first time...not to mention the typos he had all over the place...:D ...but i love it....im not really a zainiac....i use different car washes and all kinds of stuff for the trim/glass.. etc...but when it comes to wax/sealants.....you like zaino or klasse...mostly...if u like zaino...your a nut and think its the only wau to go/..if you like klasse..then you have to do more work and add a topper like Blitz/souveran..etc...those are the 2 things people say against the other...i dont...and have never...waxed my car.in the traditional sense(meguiars..Blitz..OGSHO(thx steve)..carnuba type stuff)....and i dont plan to unless something crazy happens and i have alot more free time on my hands.....i dont have time to be waxing the car every 2 wks...once you get the zaino down it takes about 2 hrs to complete the whole thing....i clayed the hell out of it after i first got it and now just keep putting zaino on.....everybodys different...my car is a really abused daily driver...3-400 miles a day...it looks great..IMHO....so for me Zaino is perfect....it lasts...a long.long.time...and thats whats important to me....another thing i love about sal is..he answers any emails or phone calls you give him...personally....and quickly....the funniest thing is he knows the site is(old looking) and is a pain with ordering.....but he says exactly what darb said...his focus is elsewhere.but i have to believe that he's gotta update to online ordering soon......and yes...it makes me pissed.that he didnt already..and to tell you the truth......some of the guys i talk most to here use klasse...and i know i never had a conversation with anyone here trying to convert them to zaino......so...go figure;)

If you're interested in trying Zaino (or are already a user), check with Sal to see if there's a distributor in your area. I didn't particularly care for the mail-order approach (nor the $7 shipping charge per order) myself . . . having a local source to buy the products has removed both those concerns, and now I don't have to plan ahead to avoid running out of Z6, or put together a big order to feel like I'm not on the losing end of the shipping charge. Also, I get to lust after the distributor's torch red 'Vette every time I stop by to pick up stuff (added bonus :D ).

You have to remember that everyone's experience here is different and that one should try a product for themselves before making judgements.

Its a shame that Zaino has received a lot of negative publicity because a few users of the product mention it ANYTIME another auto product is mentioned. When people ask me for recommendations, I do recommend Zaino because out of the stuff I've tried (a lot), it has served ME the best. But, it is also our responsibility not to try and convert everyone on the face of the earth. I wonder if Sal has a bunch of missionaries travelling around the world spreading the gospel of Zaino, cuz there sure are plenty on the net! :p

BTW, Zaino Z5 does fill swirls VERY well in my experience. I even took some pictures to demonstrate it.

I live about 15 minutes from a distributor (he take C/C's). I prefer driving a few minutes to "shop" for some Z instead of having to wait for it in the mail. Check to see if there is a distributor in your area.

Z-5 did a decent job of filling swirls for me too. However, it took about 5 coats before I started noticing results. Let's see how it looks after 10 coats.

Zaino accepting mail orders can be in part, to help keep prices lower. To accept credit cards costs money, you have to pay a fee to the credit card companies to run their cards. Also, if you take phone orders you must pay the people to answer the phones and process the orders. Internet orders is the same type thing, you must pay to have someone process the orders and you have to pay the web hosting fees, which are pretty expensive. And there are many other costs that I am not even going to mention.

All of this adds up to higher overhead, which means higher prices.

its so weird....i cant find too many posts/threads...where Zaino guys bash so many other products.....i mean...most of the threads i read...a person says...i use zaino and i love it...you should try it....not....meguiars sucks so get the zaino or your a retard....i mean...when i read about zainiacs....thats what they are made to sound like..."klasse is for crap...go zaino or your clueless'...when did this misperception start....and cant it just end already...its so weird...:D

Intermezzo330i: I cleaned that car earlier in the summer and posted about it back then, but here goes:

1. Dawn wash

2. Clay using Mother's clay bar and Meguiars QD

3. Apply zaino z1

4. Apply z5 x 2 (didnt know about cure times!)

That is it, aside from dressing the tires/tire wells, and cleaning up the interior. Notice how I used NO abrasives on the outside? BTW, that car is a '99 and it has NEVER been waxed and washed a MAXIMUM of once every month or two.

Now, I will be the first to say that the pictures are not entirely fair, as the "after" pictures really dont show the same angles the "before" pictures did. But, rest assured, the swirls were tremendously minimized.

Zaino is not "hard to get." There are distributors that cover almost every state, many whom take credit card orders. If you order it direct, it is not hard to get at all. Just call SAL up, or put a check in the mail. What is so hard about that? Sal turns orders around the same day he gets them, and I bet you would be surprised how quickly the products get to your doorstep. If you have concerns, why don't you call sal and get a feel for who he is and learn about his products.

There are many users of Zaino, on acura boards, miata boards, corvette boards, f-body boards, and more. There is no exclusive club. I think some people just read into things way to much. Also the cost of Z1 and Z2 is just over 20 bucks. It's carguy's opinion to say that there is a product that is considerably less money that is better. How are you judging better? It is true that some products that are cheaper can and will match zaino's shine. Different people have different needs and wants in a car product. If you are testing on shine alone, then maybe zaino is not for you, because most of it's strengths lie elsewhere, although it does have an incredible shine. Remember, there is more to a polish system than shine. If shine and cost is all that matters to you try shining your car up with butter, olive oil, or transmission fluid, silicone oil,etc,etc,etc..........you will be amazed at the shine for the dollar spent.

Lastly, Z5 will fill in very minor swirling with multiple coats. The truth is, different people have had different results with this product depending on the car. Once a car is perfect and some zaino is layered on it, it does an even better job maintaining a swirl free finish, as future swirls are in the polish layer and Z5 really does well here. Also note that Z5 will not perform miracles on a neglected car, which some people have used as test subjects for Z5 testing.

Just two coats? Pretty impressive.

Once again, great pics!

FLONI - you're right - one of the reasons I like this board is that people are respectful and open-minded. If you want to hear from some of the "Zaino Zealots" I mentioned, try the Viper board. some of those guys DO act in the negative way you perceived I was talking about.

Also - Zaino doesn't have distributors in any classic sense. The only way they can distribute is a) to be a zaino user, b) to agree not to sell over the web and c) to agree not to sell any competitive products. Once again, I think this is part of a clever marketing strategy.

By the way, my experience with the ferrari the other day demonstrated to me that differrent paints respond differently to the same materials. Zaino may be better on some cars than others. All I can say is that on the Porsche, it did NOT hide swirl marks (you saw the photos in my Zaino test), did NOT provide dust repulsion and did NOT have superior gloss. These are all claims Zaino makes. The longevity DOES appear to be quite good as discussed, and I really like the way Z6 leave the finish feeling when I use it over the Z'd section of my car.

So - your mileage may vary.

Yup, 2 coats about 1.5 hours apart. It provided amazing results. Too bad the car has only been washed once since then (at an auto car wash too!!). Arghh..the vicious cycle repeats itself...

the threads...between yello/intermezz and all the zaino other stuff....when i scroll down im trying to keep up with both...:D carguy....went to Viper and your are definitely on the $ with that one...they are a bunch a nuts....i mean the words they used to call each other are a disgrace....no discussions...juts like yelling.....andlike i said previously your test was thorough and IMHO very fair....like you said...different results...diff cars...diff products....like we always say...read it all then do what u liike...:up

Sal has reasons for his decisions. State to state distributors are EXACTLY what they state. SAL wanted the distributer program to be fair, and for each state distributor to stick with their territory, hence no internet stuff. The last thing he wants is competition among distributers.

Also, sal would like the distributors to be familiar with his products....aka...users. This makes sense, being that they can answer questions and be the "expert" in the area in which they are selling. These people go to car shows, perform demonstrations, etc, etc, etc. Surely anyone with good business sense does not want just ANYONE selling their products. I mean, what if the owners of "the wax test" were allowed to sell zaino and demonstrate it. It would of been a disaster being they had problems with application because of using old school carnuba methodology...........

Also, most distributers do it for a hobbie, not as a living.....

You seem to know an aweful lot....did you want to be a distributer of a product that you don't even like?
