Worst rotary work... EVER!

Just makes you wonder....WHO THOUGHT THAT LOOKED LIKE A GOOD JOB!?!?!?!??1

Good possibility it was done by a body shop and not a regular lot detailer

Used to do work for a large dealer group in our area that would send paint work to this hack instead of their own body shop. He would swirl 'em like this for two reasons.

1. To get rid of his sanding marks as quickly as possible

2. To remove overspray

When he was done with the job, he'd run it through the dealer's scratch-n-rinse wash and call it finished.

He kept me in business, that's for sure! The best was when a previously lot-readied vehicle would be damaged. They'd have him repaint the damaged panel.

The guy would either swirl one panel like this and leave overspray on the entire car (he wasn't really into masking, no joke) or swirl the whole thing to remove the spray.

I'd get paid a second time to polish the car or truck.

P1et - that Texas homegrown must be real good this year! But, it could be the work of one of our "undocumented" guest workers....

Maybe the dealer is charging extra for the special-effects paint job. Not just anyone can make paint look like that!

You said it JuneBug! Plenty of 'em over here. But they do make some damn fine food!

Sorry to bring this old thread back, but can this type of hologramming be fixable with a FLEX / Orang Pad/ Menz SIP or even just the Menz 106?

It's possible, but it would take *a long time.* I did a similar vehicle and can't imagine doing the work with just a PC (not sure how much better the flex would perform).

'If you should ever see something this bad, it\'s time to do some marketing. Offer the customer to do a panel for free, so they can see what you can do. I once saw such a case(possibly not so bad) on a large dealers lot that had internal detailing services. I offered to polish the car for free to the sales manager, at first he hesitated, stating that in a few weeks it would return to that state of psycadelia. I offered then to do it for free, and should it return to the starting point after a month I would pay someone else to re-do the job.\r\n\r\nSince that day I am there go-to guy for any car darker than silver. there internal detailers have had there rotary\'s confiscated. My free work has gained me about 200 completes in the last 2 years, well worth the effort.'

I dont understand how the person doing that thought that maybe it was working? Would you not know to stop after 2 secondz?

With the flex that should be no problem at all. The flex is a very different animal from a PC. You want to compare it to a rotary.

ive never used a rotary before but im pretty sure i couldnt do that bad if i tried. Did he do that in the dark??? if you do that with any kind of light on the car you should have no problem seeing the crap you are doing to the paint. im wondering if someone forgot to tell him to put the polish on there before buffing away....

I'm guessing the monkey spun the wool at like 2g's and ran it back and forth really quick because he was afraid of burning the paint, all on a couple squirts of product :doh

I really need to find someone that has a flex, I understand they have more torque but comparing them to a rotary? Really?
