Why is this website so slow and boring?

I'm glad it's not just me then....

I've been noticing the same thing over the last several weeks and was wondering if I'm just getting forum burnout.

The quality and content of posts here and on Autogeek are well, somewhat dull lately. I've had quite a few PM's asking questions and for help which I thoroughly enjoy so at least that hasn't changed....

Maybe it's just the time of year....:passout:

I have noticed this as well, that over last month or so it has slowed down. In my time on the forums I think it is a normal thing. During the summer while everyone is detailing or wanting to try new products it is busier. Now when most are busy with work and looking toward the winter protection detail it slows down because most guys go back to what they know works as they don't want to chance it in the winter. In the middle of winter it seems to begin to pick back up again because people are stuck inside and / or are looking towards spring and detailing again.

I too go through forum "burnout". You just get to a point where it is or has been to much. This year I have tried to really limit my time online and balance my normal detailing with my time on the forums. I enjoy them and have made some great friends. And sharing my knowledge to helps others so they don't get overwhelmed or waste money is something I find important and wish at time someone would have done for me.

But the real deal is what I posted earlier. WE make this forum what it is. It is up to us to ask and answer the questions.

I get tired of reading a bunch of phony bs all the time, so my internet usuage is waaaaaay down :swirly:
Furthermore, I think the whole internet thing was just a fad and is on it's way out. The question is, what's next ! :inspector:

:popcorn

Remember it's the quality of information we all post here on the forum and not quantity that we all post. Our sister site is larger site and have more folks on but alot of those post / threads are the same ones that have been answer so many times, but we only have a few of those question's ask because alot of our great members look up on the search button and find the answer's their looking for. Remember sometimes forums do go down in post's but that doesn't mean their down because their boring, just give it time and it will pick up......:autopia:

This is my home site for detailing and I don't find it slow at all. Todd or someone else is always doing an article or test and I find something to comment on every day.

I understand th quality over quanity thing, but what happen to the fun part? :headspin
i think a lot of the people here are fun. Todd, AF and Autopia Car Care are always putting some fun contests with some pretty awesome gifts. free stuff is good, really good free stuff is awesome :yay

You are boring me with this post. Lol. Detailing is relatively easy to master after a while. The products do not really change much and the process is really quite boring.

Wash, wax, clean, rinse and repeat.

Relatively easy to master???? You've got to be kidding!! I've been doing it for over 30 years and don't feel as though I have it mastered yet and I concider myself pretty darn good at it. In fact I just learned something new from Paul S two weeks ago!! So to say it's realatively easy is a false statement or your standards are definatly lower than mine. Also to say products don't really change is another false statement. I can name 5 revolutionary new products that came out just this year that are game changers without giving it much thought.

Todd has been having contest's of free products on here, but maybe we should have some more this winter and make it very interesting for everyone. What do everyone think?

One thing I can say is there are forums you pay to be recognized. The one problem is many times your views or opinions are respected based on your yearly contribution. This can range from 20 to 100 dollars a year and more for a lifetime membership I dont know everything but am glad to post when I can what I can for free. I do pay and could target the main market I'm in but I like this community better, slow and busy.
To me it's funny to be respected in person but on the net someone may not know you. They may disrespect you on the net but not realize who they are talking to. There are contributions from many members here who are truly "big dogs" in the detail community. No one is going to force feed that down anyone's throat here that is what I like.

There are members here who should have the utmost respect not calling themselves professionals. I myself hold those people in high regard because your posts and reviews as a claimed hobbyist are outstanding.

Traffic or not this is my home base as it was when it was DC.

The average hobbyist detailer can master the skills quite easily. The only skill that is tough is polishing. There have been no earth shattering product discoveries at all lately.

If there were some, you would see every car detailer in the country using these "super products" you claim came out this year.

I enjoy detailing, but the innovation factor is still pretty low in this industry.
