....surrounds nearly every electronic toy, gadget, connector, harness, wireless transmitter.....etc.

I want to personally hang him buy his you know whats !!

Why do they have to make is so difficult to open packages these days? Even cereal boxes for cryin out loud !! What happen to the good ol days when all you had to do was unflap something, and wallah, CONTENTS!

My wife was saying evil thoughts when she tried to open a DVD this very nite. It is funny that I should run across this thread after the nail broke. Was not pretty.
 
Its so stupid people dont steel them. I guess because its bigger it will prevent thieves from being able to put it under their jackets. I too hate them and I always seem to cut through the instructions or another important part.
 
Yeah, it has gotten pretty impossible to open stuff...I think it was Ellen Degeneres who had a bit about buying a pair of scissors that came in one of those packages you had to cut open...
 
How about all those twisty things they use to keep dolls and action figures in place. Those things are painful to remove after the first few.

I have heavy duty kitchen scissors that cut right through that stuff. I use them to cut the edges off of those "packages" also.



I guess a good pair of electricians scissors would do the same thing. Sure does save the aggravation.
 
Gotta love blister packs. I hate them too. I usually try to cut some of it and muscle through the rest but one of these days I am goign to slice my fingers open bad. That stuff is sharp! I think a sharp heavy duty pair of sissors is the way to go. THe only drawback is if you want to return the item, the package is shot!



DVDS stink too......3 security labels on most of the new ones now.....ugh. ANd I end up getting over anxious and usually damage the case a bit peeling them off.
 
There is actually a tool for cutting blister packs-can't think of the name of it right now. I met the inventor at a trade show in Chicago over the summer. He invented it because he kept cutting himself. If I remember correctly, it has a little point to start a hole, and then a 'v' blade that just barely penetrates through the plastic so you don't damage the contents. And a big guard on the handle to protect your hands. It worked very well. He won a big design award a few years ago for it. If I can find his flyer at the office, I'll post his website.

The samples he had at the show had Costco imprinted on them. Costco should give them out free with every membership-you can't buy a thing there that's not in a blister pack.
 
Okay, found my catalog. It's called the OpenX. As I said, I tried it at the trade show and it works very well. Interestingly enough-it comes packaged in a blister pack. :getdown

Oh you mean those Thermal Blistic seal package? e.g like those computer hard drive and those $500.00 video card(nVidia 7800GTX :eek: )?
 
As most of the people here tend to be relatively young, spare a thought for those whose hands are not so nimble, these plastics can be a nightmare.
 
For me its absolute aggravation.........I get more ticked off attempting to RIP it open, and yes, risk injury, then effort involved finally getting it open..........

The whole design/theory behind its purpose vs consumer need, is ludicrous...........

And while on the subject: CD's, why do they insist on wrapping them with no "gum wrapper" zip opening, and then tape then shut??? As if the tape isnt difficult enough to get off ?

There is nothing worse than those wire ties that hold toys in place. Then add a few screws to the base of it and cardboard spacers. The pain I endured at Christmas from my 6 year old son when I was trying to get ROBORAPTOR out of his packaging. 15 minutes of hearing is he out yet and when can I play with him got me all nerved up. :hairpull
