Which Wax on top of Klasse SG?

I'm addicted to this forum and detailing... spending way too much time detailing both cars after winter :waxing: So much fun though :)

I finished applying 4 coats of Klasse SG on my Acura - the results are really better than I expected. I wonder how long this gloss will hold up.

Just wondering if I can put a wax on top of the SG that would add more depth and also to be able to add more protection/renewal after every 3-4 weeks in the summer time?

I was thinking of P21S or Pinnacle Souveran perhaps? Something that is quick and easy to apply, non-staining on plastics and good on dark colors (Acura is dark metallic green and BMW is dark metallic gray).

Your suggestions will be appreciated. :help:

my suggestion is dont wax it , just keep topping up with more SG when it gets low

otherwise you have to strip it all off and start over once the SG is worn away

Topping SG with a beauty wax like P21S is the "perfect shine" that DavidB promoted. So either that or Souveran would be good choices...you could also try Collinite 845 IW or Meg's #16 since you can still get it in CAN; they will last a little longer, looks might not be as good as a beauty wax.

Thanks Setec!

I notice there are two P21S waxes available at my Canadian dealer:

P21S 100% Carnauba Paste Wax 6.2 oz $62.00

P21S Concours Look Carnauba Paste Wax $39.99

Can someone enlighten me as to the difference / qualities between the two? And if I am to spend $62, should I just step up to the Souveran?

Awesome board!

steveo3002, start all over? you mean with KAIO? Doesn't seem to be that big of a deal honestly, but your suggestion does make sense. I just like experimenting I guess :)

I used to be a heavy Klasse user. Great product, BTW. As the others have suggested, a fine carnauba like P21S, Blitz Wax, etc. works quite nice.

OTOH, if you wish to add something to your bag o' tricks, SONUS has the Acrylic Glanz which is sort of like an instant detailer. You mist it on and move around the entire vehicle in a few short mins:

A strategy like this permits you to greatly extend the life of the Klasse protection...

yes i mean start over with kaio , okay its no massive big deal

i just like to build some layers of SG on my car , last year about october i built up several layers on out driver over a couple of weeks, its pretty much still intact , great on the side surafces maybe wearing a little thin on the hood and roof

by not waxing , you could choose to top up once every month or 6 weeks

Is S100 the same as P21S? It's half the price at Autogeek.

tom p, thanks for the suggestion. I'll have to try it one day, although can't find this at autogeek or eshine.

Your logic makes complete sense... I may have to rethink this strategy. :bigups

Although I'm still curious about how P21S would look on top of it all.

tom p., if I use the SONUS Acrylic Glanz can I add additional layers of SG when needed without stripping it all down?

2nd...this works well for me...

psychadelic,

I've ordered the Klasse twins but I've read several posts that talk of the difficulty of applying KSG. I am about to order FK1000p to replace the KSG but if your experience was positive, I may stick with the twins for paint and plastics.

I have a G110 on the way with assorted LC 5.5 pads and Megs finishing and buffing pads.

Thanks for any advice.

Yes, you use it on top of the KSG for fortification...that's its intended purpose.

akone, I suggest you try the Klasse Twins - you won't know what you're missing if you don't try. Don't get discouraged by some posts on this board. Klasse AIO is very easy to work with in my opinion, and SG is a bit more tricky but not that hard. Trick is to use the right applicator and spread it very very thin.

I find that a regular foam applicator doesn't give you the thinness control.

Something like this would work better for sure:

I use the Polishing Pal which I am very happy with.

Let the SG dry for about 2-3 hours, longer is ok too and then buff it off with a MF towel (short nap). I spray a bit of QD on the MF towel then wipe off the hazy SG, then buff with a longer nap MF towel. Hope this help.

Here is a picture of my last result:

Good luck!

Thanks psychadelic!

I will stick with the twins for our new Tacoma. I have a red 94 4Runner (heavily oxidized) and a 90 Toyota extra-cab to experiment with so I may try KAIO + KSG + 476s on the pickup and KAIO + FK1000p on the 4Runner. The pickup has a rusted out frame and will be sold as is so I may experiment with different combinations panel by panel on it to get the hang of the products. It's black and the paint is still good on most of it except for swirls and a couple of rusted through spots. I'll be trying m205 on it first also to see if it will restore moderate swirling. If not, I'll get the m105. Big fun ahead! It's a cloudless day and 60F which is unusual for here and my stuff is in the mail.....:nixweiss

Poordude,

Good to hear that 476 looks so good. I'ts in the mail too.....:dance

Can't wait to experiment....:waxing:

For years S100 was the same and you would be crazy not to get it instead of spending twice as much for the same thing. I used S100 over SG for years and loved it....it doesn't last long but it about as easy a paste wax to use as you will ever find.
