Where's the "Really impressed with Meguiar's as of late" thread?

What ever happened to that fella? Great guy...

Did you ever meet him, Pat? A bunch of us met him at the Meg's day at PAL Automotive back in 2004...come to think of it, pretty much nobody that was at that meet is active on here anymore. Anyway, I think Accumulator said that Bill had some more pressing life issues than Autopia, IIRC he was engaged, etc.

Yeah I meet him once. Nice guy. He just dropped off the face of the earth...:nixweiss

Well, let's put a close to this issue, shall we?

There is absolutely way too much spin around the accounts TH0001, OverExposed, VaSupershine and MakitaNinja to know exactly what has taken place or why. Frankly, I don't care why. What I know is that the individual(s) involved attempted to manipulate this community. At a minimum, the individual(s) involved created multiple accounts for the purpose of deception, falsely jacked up post views to create the appearance of popularity, and intentionally created spin on other communities that lead to a thread back here solely for the purpose of gaining attention.

For the purpose of closing out this issue, I banned all of the accounts mentioned above for the reasons stated. As I know a spin will placed on this whole event on forums outside Autopia.org, let me just go ahead and publicly state that, yes, I am aware that Todd (TH0001) and Angelo (zoomzoom mazda5) are CMA employees. This has nothing to with the ban put on the above accounts. However, as most other vendors do, CMA employees should put something like "Angelo@ProperAutoCare" in their signature to identify themselves as vendors.

Isn't that "blk45"???

I'm sorry if I'm incorrect.

Ummmm...NO! I am definitely not Brian Brice. The name is Eric ..... and it's my real one. Multiple people on this site can verify that, Pat's being one of them.

:wow: I guess that would explain why that recent Ferrari thread looked like an infomercial for CMA! I don't know about other members, but that really pisses me off when members get product for free (or even worse, are actually employees), hype it like it's the best thing since sliced bread, without disclosing their vendor relationship.

We all rely on honest opinions here, but you can never tell if it's honest (intentionally or unintentionally) when those kinds of relationships exist.

I love how everyone always tries to be a detective and blow stupid little things out of proportion. Todd and I took Mike Phillip's class at DF last weekend. During the class, we had a conversation about how we hadn't stopped to think how many good products that Megs has now. That's it. Obviously, he thought about it more and made a thread about it. Mystery solved.

You are right. Mystery solved.

If that is what happened, I really don't understand it. I think Todd's work stands on its own merit. No need to go through all that trouble to garner extra attention.

My apologies, Eric. I know you're in the Orlando area, and I think you know Todd personally, but before this, I could remember your real name. Sorry...just a case of mistaken identity.

No hard feelings, I hope.

I agree with Scott. Myself personally always got excited when I saw a new thread from Todd. His reputation as a good detailer is what draws many to his threads not what products he raves about. I for one enjoy trying new products so why not read about a thread talking about new products.

Valid.

But money talks and bullsht walks.

If CMA is willing to pay him to promote product, good for him.

It just pays to be upfront about it.

That contradiction is what sells products.

Exactly.
