Where's the "Really impressed with Meguiar's as of late" thread?

Setec Astronomy said:
No, he didn't. Mike Phillips was a regular here before MOL started up, and continued to post for some time after that. Once in a while he pokes his head in here, but not for a long time.

Autopia.org - Search Results

Yes I can do a search, but my point was I see KB giving more insite then MP. No disrespect to MP of course.

I don't recall the management ever providing any "proof" when members have been banned for multiple accounts. Why is this so important to you? You've already followed him to his new home.

Me "following" him has nothing to do with anything. Does it? Explain...

DavidB publically stated here that he banned Todd, but as far as I'm aware, his explanation isn't accurate. To me, that's kinda shady. Setec - if the same thing happened to you(or the other well respected contributors here), I'd be asking the same questions. As a matter of fact, remember me creating a thread wondering where you've been after not seeing you here for a while?

You know, this reminds me of the DClub exodus, you guys have your new forum with Todd as the titular head, so why continue to stir it up over here?

With propaganda like that you should work for the president. :bow

Now you're looking down on ME for being a member of another Forum? Common, that's just plain rediculous. I guess that's your true perception of me....appreciate that. :sadpace:

Well, too bad you guys expended that bandwith worrying about me, only to find out I'm an "internet dickwad" a "keyboard detailer" and that I don't idolize Todd. Oh well. As I said, if you pros need Todd, you already have his phone number and his new web address.

Frankly, I'm not impressed and I think this community has been bamboozled by photography and a lot of hot air. That's my opinion, but from what I can see I don't think I'm far off the mark.

Do you have any proof of this David? This sounds like unwarranted defamation of character to me, no? You have told us that is a no-no, especially on Autopia.

From the Holden thread:

DavidB said:
WHAT HAPPENED TO THIS THREAD & WHY?

The good intention of this thread was to warn other forum members of a potential problem. I spoke with Todd about the issue via PM and asked him to do what he thought he must, but take the high road.

The result of the post was 25 pages of feeding frenzy. Now, the frenzy may or may not have been warranted. I don't know. What I do know is that the result of the feeding frenzy was worse than the wrong doing that was being exposed.

What do I mean? Simply this. You can't slander someone online (defamation of character) in the name of "shame, shame, shame" and get away with it. Sooner or later it will bite you in the a$$!

Think about it. What if you did something wrong and then had your whole reputation slaughtered so you could no longer work? Who is responsible for your not being able to work?

Just to be clear, since I have already received several "freedom of speech" lectures through PM; free speech IS NOT FREE. It comes with responsibilities. The biggest responsibility of all is to not impose on other people's liberties. That's right, what some idiot does is no excuse for doing wrong. No matter how angry it makes you feel.

So, I mopped up this thread by deleting all posts after the original. Letting people know what happened is not the issue. Defamation of character is.

I feel badly for all parties involved in this whole event. It's a shame it happened. That said, it's a matter for a civil proceeding, not an Autopia.org open court.

I have banned Holden_C04 for conduct unbecoming an Autopia.org member and for bring embarrassment to the community. Should he make right with the car owner and post a public apology, he's welcome to come back.

So if in fact Todd broke the rules which were clear, he should get a mulligan because of his status on the forum?

No. But without facts, I can't respect DavidB's decision to ban him. If he can show why, I will 100%.

It's nothing like that. If I want to listen to/interact with Mike Phillips, I go to MOL. I don't grouse around here that Mike doesn't post here. If I wanted to listen to David North, or whatever he calls himself on DClub, I wouldn't spend time on Autopia complaining that he's been banned. If there was no internet outlet for Todd, then I can see your dismay, but besides the fact that you and he are personal friends, he can still post, heck he's even a Mod at his new place.

The problem is moderating isn't done by the community, it is done by DavidB and the mods. This is nothing new, most forums work this way. Frankly I suspect a community moderated forum would be sheer and utter chaos, pretty much what this thread has descended into...

You would think David must have some pretty hard evidence if he went this far, wouldn't you think? I mean, if you are trying to solve a case and you are the detective, your not going to show your cards on a public forum until the investigation is complete, wouldn't you agree?

LOL... Oh yea I can see I was totaly off base. :2thumbs:

Here's how I see it. Dave has made a choice and Todd has found a new home where he has more power than ever to do what he wants. Todd informative post are now back to view. sooo......Case closed.
