Where do I start?

I just bought a PC 7336 and am ready to start using it, but have nothing else. Other than a clay bar, Zymol cleaner wax, and Meguiar's Gold Class liquid, that's really it! I've got an '03 Mazda6 and an '01 Mazda Miata. :woot: Both are same shade of silver. Since I'm basically starting from scratch and I don't care about the price, I want to know what would be best. I don't mind waxing once a month since I have no garage to store my cars and my cars get driven daily. I can't figure out which pads I need for the PC since they seem to be for the 7424. I've looked into the Klasse AIO topped with Pinnacle Sovereign, and I know it would look good on a dark car or a red car, but I'm not sure on silver. So many questions I know. I thought I did a decent job with my cars 'til I found this site. I feel unworthy:( . Well, maybe just extremely humbled. I've read a little and have a decent idea which pad goes with which compound, polish, or wax, but the more I read the more confused I get. If you guys could help me out with some suggestions I'd be eternally grateful. Thanks, Jess

With the products you have, you can do the following w/o spending one more dime:

1. Wash

2. Clay

3. Cleaner wax- Green Pad

4. Gold Class- Blue Pad

If it is your desire to get more serious and begin removing swirls and minor defects, you will need some more stuff; specifically polish

AIO is an awesome all purpose cleaner. You can follow that with SG and then Soveran, but you will definitely want to polish before you spend that kind of money on the Soveran as an LSP. SOme good polishes are SSR 2.5, Menzerna, and Megs DACP.

I think everyone will agree you can't really go wrong with Klasse twins and Soveran. However, I don't have a silver car and therefore can't offer any experienced advice concerning your color.

If all the acronyms have your head spining see the "decoder" on the home page --> little box on the left of the page

I found out the pads for the 7424 will work on the 7336, so that's out of the way. I think I'll definitely go with the Klasse twins and either Sovereign or S100. I'll research the polishes some more though. I'm going to buy whatever is best for the cars. They may not be $50k plus cars, but they're still my babies and whatever it takes, they get it. The interior details aren't as important as the exterior and I made up my mind pretty fast on those, but folks rarely comment on the interior before the exterior and that's what I want to stand out the most. I'm getting there, slowly, but getting there. Thanks guys, Jess

You're on the right track....start with a good wash and then clay. You should be able to start learning what you'll want to, and need to, do next in the way of removing swirls. Regardless, if you've decided on the Klasse twins you can't go wrong. AIO is a fantastic product and you should soon learn what "thin" really means; learn to use a little bit of the product and make it go a long way. Klasse SG can be tricky - if you think you're putting it on thin you're probably using too much. If it smears on you or is difficult to remove - you've used too much. Many threads here on varying methods of application and removal. I just put it on and let it sit a few hours and it comes right off. Remember that you're going to want to put on at least 2 applications of the SG and wait about 24 hrs between, so be patient. The SG will provide awesome protection (even with daily drivers kept outside you should get about 3 months of great protection) and will definitely bring out some POP for your silver. You can then go back and top off with a wax over the SG if you want, but enjoy the SG by itself first for awhile so you can get a sense of what it's all about. If SG doesn't work out for you, stay with it cause it's worth it. If you do decide to give up on the SG, think about AIO/UPP. UPP is WAY easier to apply/remove, definitely POPs on Silver and gives great protection.

Good luck, have fun and don't forget to follow-up and post some pics before/after.

eyeguy1- For starters, you might want to just do the cleanerwax/Gold Class combo that JJ mentioned. It would give you a good intro to using the PC.

We have a silver Mazda ('02 MPV) and I use Klasse on it. It's not a bad way to go on that paint, and it does offer great durability.

Mazda clear is nice. Not so soft that it's overly susceptible to marring but not so hard that it's too tough to correct when it does get marred. Use a good wash regimen and you shouldn't have to polish it very often.

The only polishes you should need for Mazda clear are 3M PI-III RC (pn 05933) and PI-III MG (pn 05937). These have been recently discontinued but are still commonly available. I got mine

HERE . These will take out most marring and will leave a nice surface for the next step, the AIO.

Definitely. AIO/UPP is one of my favorite combos for light colors. I'll be trying UPP + Nattys on silver soon too. I'll post some pics up as soon as I detail that car (neighbor's car).

Cool cars! :xyxthumbs

Someday I want a Mazdaspeed6 and an RX-8. Someday.... :)

I think the steps I'm gonna try are:

1. Wash and clay if needed

2. 3M PI-3 or something comparable

3. Menzerna Final Polish

4. Klasse twins

5. S100, P21S, Pinnacle

I may need something heavier than 3M if it's too close to Menzerna. I usually try to be a one company kind of person, but it seems everybody has a stand-out product. I've got a Contour in Willow Frost Green Metallic or whatever they call it. Kind of a light pearlescent green. That will be my guinea pig and I think it would give similar results to silver. I'm going to let a friends son take the Miata to prom and I want him to feel proud. Not that a senior wouldn't be happy to drive something like that if it were dirty. Anyway, I'll be ordering the supplies soon so I'll try to get some before and after shots up ASAP. White95Max, I had the chance to keep a yellow RX-8 for half a day. The Speed6 had better be real sweet to erase my memory of the RX-8. I don't think I'd be disappointed either way.

I have the 7336 as well. Just be sure to get a backing plate and some pads for it. I've got a 5" backing plate, one orange light cutting pad, 2 green polishing pads and 2 blue polishing pads. If it is just for your car that really is all you need.

Your product choices sound excellent. There are SO many great sealants and waxes out. Klasse/P21S sounds like a great start.

Just make sure that you get some quality microfiber towels to remove the SG. It can be a little tough to remove, but using a QD or breathing some moisture on it will help.

Also, it's better to use speed than pressure (when removing waxes/polishes). What I mean by that is don't RUB the SG off with a lot of pressure. Use a lighter pressure and more speed in your back and forth motions.

Welcome!!!

Well, I just found out I get 10% off on my first order and being that I'm starting off from scratch basically, you can probably imagine the things I'm getting. I've got some MF towels from Auto Zone, but I got a feeling they're not that good. I've decided to go all out with supplies. I've looked at the product reviews and will pretty much get what everybody likes with the exception of what we've discussed. That discount pretty much sealed the deal on alot of products, though I may stray on a few things. Hopefully pics will follow soon. Jess

OK, here's what I've got coming

Klasse twins

P21S Carnauba Wax

Sonus DAS Pad Kit

Concours Finishing Bonnet

Sonus Complete Detailing Towel Kit

Sonus Der Wunder Mitt

P21S Bodywork Shampoo

Stoner Tarminator

P21S Gel Wheel Cleaner

303 Protectant

303 Convertible Top Cleaner

Sonus Der Wunder Applicators for the tight spots

Concours Buffing Towel

Poorboys SSR 1 & 2.5

Zaino Z9 & Z10

My wallet is certainly thinned out now. If this doesn't make them look sharp, I don't think anything will! Some of it may be overkill, but you never know when you may need them. Anyway, with the discount I had to change ideas with some products, but I don't think I'll be disappointed. You guys think this'll get 'er dun? Jess

Looks good to me.

One thing I would change...I would have gotten SSR2 instead of SSR1. I haven't even had to follow up with a lighter polish when using SSR2.5 with a cutting pad. It is so good at leaving no micromarring behind.

I really, really love the look of Klasse AIO followed by a couple coats of UPP. Truly amazing! I thing it will look beautiful on your silver cars. Try it and you will also rave about it. Trust me!

My wife sure thinks I've spent enough! I said, "But it's gonna make your car look good." For some reason I don't think she cares. Now, which UPP are you talking about? Einszett? I think you lost me on that one. I looked up the decoder and found that and Platinum UPP. Getting good waxes seems to be impossible around here. I know Advanced Auto and Auto Zone have decent stuff, but the really good stuff is hard to find. I don't think we even have a Zaino distributor in the state. Since my wife is flying into Phoenix soon, I found a Zaino guy 10 minutes from the airport and if I'm lucky she'll pick it up and bring the Z9 & Z10 back. I just couldn't see $9 shipping for those two things. Anyway, I'm off to wash the Miata and get the pollen off even if it comes back within 20 minutes.

I see says the blind man. I may give it a try next time I order some more stuff. Well, unless I'm totally satisfied with the look I get. I just washed it, and the water just didn't roll off like it did after one rainfall. I just waxed last Sat.! I need my stuff ASAP.

Dawn, then clay, then Dawn again. Full rinse, then Gold Class Liquid. I will say it has a decent shine to it now. But I know it can be better. I'd be happy with it if it were something I paid the neighbor kid $10 for.

Gold Class is a huge PITA (I just used it again tonight in an attempt to use it up), and isn't very durable. You probably washed much of it right off with one wash.

You didn't wash with Dawn after waxing the car did you?
