When Is Cold Too Cold !

What would be considered the minimum temp to apply waxes and sealants? I work out of an uninsulated metal garage building with limited heating. There are many times during the winter that I cannot get the temperature above 40-45 degrees inside. I have used compounds and polishes in these conditions and they seem to work ok. I do however wonder if their effectiveness are reduced.

I do know that sealants require a cure time and am assuming that the cure time will increase in cold weather. I currently use a lot of Duragloss 105 sealant. It is mixed with 601PB which acts as an accelerate and should help curing in colder weather.

I would appreciate any feed back and experiences that you guys have. How does the cold affect Compounds, Polishes, Sealants and Waxes ?

IMO cold weather doesn't effect compounds/polishes or wax

Not a big sealant guy. I usually don't have time to wait on something to cure

Trouble; You made the statement that cold does not affect waxes and I read the thread concerning the ability to use Nattys Blue in the cold. I prefer to use a sealant instead of a wax for the increased durability.

What about a wax like Collinite 845 ? That would be my choice when I couldn't use a sealant. Anybody know if 845 has to cure or can it be used as a wipe on/wipe off with decent results ?

Collinite is great stuff... Bullet proof.

But pretty finicky

If ya do it wrong, get a blow torch and chisel ready.

Collinite 845 would be an excellent choice. It's a great wax.
As with any other wax or sealant, apply a thin coat

Nattys I hear is good stuff, but I have never used it
