Whats the best tire dressing?

Does #38 Sling? What do you know about Megs #40?

Never seen it sling on any of my vehicles. I apply a two or three inch line of 38 across my applicator and work that into the tire pretty well. Most of it absorbs into the side-wall. The key is to go easy on the product, less is more. I have not used 40, you like?

Story:

I washed a neighbors 525i seven weeks ago because I drive by every morning and get frustrated with its appearance. really tried to sell her on a detail and maintenance package, at a freakin steal. . . it was for my own good :lol Short story is I used D101 on the very brown tires and followed up with #38. Here we are seven weeks later, she hasn't washed it yet and the tires are black, have a slight sheen and are retarding the BMW dust infesting the front wheels. :furious:

Yay 38!

Mother's F/X!It looks awesome and lasts a good long time. It's a little hard to find in this area though!

Michelin Tire Shine: Nice low gloss shine. A little goes a long way also, but it doesn't seem to last all that long. It works good on interiors also.

Stoners MSLT

Armor All: Great looks,ultra-cheap, and available everywhere.

Megs Endurance is pretty good also.

I'm gonna try Z-16 someday, and Poorboy's Bold and Bright sounds good also.

Why is it that every one likes FX? I HATE it. I have had so many slinging problems, the sprayer sucks, and its so thick it dosent spread well. I had high hopes when I purchased this product, but came away very dissapointed.

Other than that, I have been a great fan of BNB and Armor-All.

I won't disagree in the fact that is very thick, but I am pretty sure the majority of us apply it directly to the applicator. That way, spreading it is a joy. :p

Was your tire still wet when you applied it and had sling?

I apply it to a terry cloth applicator and rub it on the tire, while it was dry. The problem is tho, that I have to put so much on my truck tires with the ribbs and lugs on the sides that may be the problem.

I like the looks of Poorboys BnB and NL the best. Nice sheen, spreads even, no sling. Great on tires, wells, interior, etc.. Both are excellent all around products IMO.

For Durability, I think Optimum has the upper hand. Optimum is a bit on the thick side, and tends to blot (i.e. you have to swipe the tires twice). I agree with RobDon that it holds up well in the weather. IMO, better than most.

Wow, You're one of the few I've seen on here that doesn't like F/X! It's what I've been looking for in a dressing for a long time! :xyxthumbs

Get one of the eagle one tire swipes... or advance auto had foam applicators with plastic handle very similar in shape to the E1 tire swipes. They are perfect for FX, or any tire dressing for that matter! ;)

Yeah, that's your problem. I had the same.

My tyres have a lot of fine ribbing, making it hard and time consuming to apply a dressing. If you don't wipe off the excess, it'll sling regardless of product - unless its a very thin watery dressing.

I apply it with a tyre swipe, let cure for 30 mins, then wipe the excess with a MF dedicated to tyres. No sling, good looks, good durability.

I like both FX and Reflections dressing, #38, Turtle Wax Tire Gel, and Mothers Duration.

With the exception of Duration, they'll all sling on heavily ribbed tyres unless you wipe off any excess. :up
