What would you do?

im about to do some testings with Klasse and Zaino products. both of which i will be getting soon through mail. as of now, all i know is MEguiars. ive been a big time meguiars fan for a long time. im really excited to spread my horizons and check out other products.

but my question is, what do you guys think is the best combo using Klasse, Zaino, and some other wax together? this question is more about whcih to apply first on top of another depending on checmial make ups. because since zaino is totally synthetic (right?) and Klasse is Acrylic, and Meguairs is just mostly normal carnuba, would there be a suggested order in which i should apply these different chemicals? i hope im making sense here...

should i use zaino first? then Klasse it and finally finish it off with some coats of Meguiars wax (medalion)? is it unsafe to have 3 complete systems on top of each other or even to use any of them together on the same surface?

Zaino is a system by itself. You would just use the Zaino with its own set of products, which means wash, clay if needed, remove swirls/contamination, basically get the surface as perfect as possible. Then put on Z1, Z2, Z2, Z2, Z2, Z,2 then Z1 after every 5-10 coats of Z2/3/5. The Z5 is used to fill in minor swirling and Z3 for non cleared paints. NO wax or another type of sealant is supposed to be used on top of Zaino.

Klasse is used to compliment a system. Prepare the surface as perfect as possible then seal it in with Klasse, and wax with a pure/non cleaning wax. If you see a difference after waxing half a panel, wax the whole car. If not, just keep to Klasse.

As for Zaino/Klasse/Wax, I read somewhere someone using these two systems together..It was a while ago.

So its either, Zaino, or Klasse, or Klasse/wax.

Try out Zaino, Klasse, and Klasse/wax on different sections of the car and see what you think.

i c, so i guess its not a good idea to mix zaino with other things. yes i know zaino is a complete system in itself but i thought i can improve it even more if i put things on top of it.

hmm.. anyone else with suggestions?

You "can" change the look of a Zainoed finish by adding another wax. Just depends what you're looking for.

You do have to remove it before adding adding additional layers of Zaino.

Jason is absolutely correct. You should NOT put another product or incorporate other products into your Zainoed car. It will do more harm than good. Now for Klasse, many, many of us love to follow 3 coats of Klasse SG, with a coat of a quality carnauba. Now this is certainly a great option. Laters.

Harm? I never heard or saw anything about "harm".

I don't think it would harm your car, but if you applied Zaino and then Klassed your ride, the Klasse would strip the Zaino, as it has cleaners in it.

I dont' know what would happen if you put Zaino on top of Klasse, however I really can't think of anything bad that would happen. I think that's a question for DK.

I just bought some Klasse AIO and SG and decided to compliment it with a can of Blitz One Grand wax.:)

I'm looking forward to the weekend. :up

You have to ask yourself what you are seeking though....better protection? More shine? A different look? etc,etc

Here are a few things to keep in mind though.........

1. Zaino was designed to bond to itself and to your clear cloat. Applying it over another product or putting another product between coats of zaino might reduce durability.

2. Zaino was meant to be "optically perfect" and to bring out the natural look of your paint. It does not yellow, or tint the color at all like some polymers and all carnubas do. Again this is a matter of prefererence, but applying it over another product will defeat this purpose of the product. Also, apply a product over zaino will diminish the cabability to layer, which is another objective of the product.

It's ok to experiment, but realize the different factors in a polish system and how they work. There is more to a product than just shine or durability alone. If there wasn't we would all just be coating our cars once a week with silicone oil for a great shine. We all have our goals and preferences, though......that is for sure.

I agree with DK. And, as he touches on, "nothing says you can't experiment." I am totally with that. Experimenting is how we make progress. And, I am sure we would all like to hear of the results of any experiment you perform.

I would suggest doing your whole car with AIO and SG. Allow a two-week cure period. Then, top one-half of the car with your experimental regime. I would suggest Z1, Z2, then Z6. One week cure. Check out the results. Then, as a third experiment, Blitz the entire car. So, one half would end up with AIO, SB, and Blitz on one half. The other half would have AIO, SG, Z1, Z2, Z6 and Blitz!!!

Hey guys. I meant harm in the sense that it will hinder the results or prevent Zaino from being used the way that it is designed to. So in this sense, you are doing more bad than good. Remember, Zaino has the great advantage that you can just layer it indefinitely and that it is optically clear. Klasse will hinder this. And as we all know, Klasse will add a slight yellowing effect on many car colors. Hope this clears things up a bit. Laters.

I've been motoring around Florida for the past week at Bike Week enjoying the balmy weather <NOT!> Angelo, Todd & Jack obviously left Florida's northern-facing door open. Somebody wanna turn up the heat? It ought to be improving as I'm now heading north. It got downright Spring-like in Ohio as soon as I started south last week. Some kind of conspiracy methinks...

I had salt spray and a lot of road crud on the bike when I arrived in FL. I usually don't get too detailed on the road but I had to do something. The super-soft clear coat on Harley's Vivid Black has driven me nuts on various bikes for years. It seems like you leave a mark on it if you walk by too fast. I get half-decent polishing results but when you put the lights or sun directly on it there's still swirls and marring.

I brought a small bottle of ONR with me and proceeded to start a wash at the friend's house where I was staying. He hosts a bunch of people from all over the country every year and we've all known each other for years and are good friends. One delinquent is retired and rides 30 - 40k a year all over the country. His bike is always covered in crud with bugs etched into the clear coat. I have no idea what his cars look like but he believes bikes should get washed when it rains. Many folks that ride a lot don't do much as far as cleaning their machines. You can't keep 'em clean on the road so they take care of it when they get home. Different strokes.

So I'm washing my bike with an audience and peanut gallery when this guy comes around the corner and heads towards my bike with a squeal of delight like a kid with a new toy. I see him wetting his finger and I know what's about to happen... I intercepted him before finger touched paint and tried to pull him away but his zeal and delight was unstoppable as he was so enthused he was just-short of clicking his heels as WASH ME appeared on my crud-encrusted saddlebag. I went off. I mean absolutely, unequivocably berserko. I don't remember every epithet that came out of my mouth... the only thing I distinctly recall was telling him if there's someone he really hates that cares about his paint THAT'S exactly the thing to do to his car or bike to ruin his whole day. The volume was such that even the neighbors across the street stopped what they were doing to watch.

When my diatribe subsided I was faced with a gallery of astonished faces who were clearly shocked by my vehement outburst. As my wrath subsided I was pretty embarrassed. In retrospect I probably should've walked away and chewed nails solo and addressed the issue privately later. The damage was done, it couldn't be undone so the entire outburst was useless. I'm pretty sure most couldn't fathom what sent me into orbit anyway.

I've always held the view that if 'Wash Me' vandals were caught red-handed it was justification for smashing all ten of their fingers with a framing hammer. I'd never considered that a long-time, ignorant friend would be the culprit and my reaction was both spontaneous and instant. Frankly, I can't imagine another situation that could touch me off instantly like that. Just wondering how anyone else might react.

BTW, the ONR wash with the softest, plushest Cobras I have produced more swirls and marring than the faint "Wash Me" that's now in my clear coat.

Hey TL...

First off, very entertaining post, but disturbing behavior by the "child" who did the damage!!!:out::toetap05:

1. Take your blood pressure meds.

2. Along with 3 deep breaths. Everything's going to be all right. :)

3. If you're on the road, not much you can do without your polisher and some good polish, so, when you get home get out your PC, a white pad and some M205 and polish out the swirls. Should go fast with soft clearcoat!

4. On the road, you might be able to find some Meg's polish and a soft foam hand-polishing pad at an auto parts store, then polish the tank and bags by hand. Wipe off residue with a Cobra and some detail spray and you're good to go...

It must really be soft if ONR + Cobra MF left swirls! Never seen that! It would be kind of irritating to see swirls EVERY TIME you wash it! :banghead:

Sorry to hear that TL, if you have the time stop by CMA and I'll be glad to help out or maybe Master Jedi Todd who live's closer to Daytona might help if he's at home. Remember to have a safe drive and have fun too................Angelo

I feel your pain man! My bike has super-soft custom mixed paint on it. Did I say it was soft? No really....SOFT!!!

Anyway the color is awesome and I get compliments on the paint every time I take my bike on a ride ( which isn't nearly enough). But you'd be surprised at how many people move to touch it w/ grubby hands while saying how great it looks! Like they have eyeballs in their fingertips or something. My paint also gets scratches and swirls from molecules so I really know your frustration. When you get home just take some time and polish 'er back up. It'll be good to have quality time alone with the bike anyway

As for your outburst, I can't say it was the right thing to do, but I can say I would have done the exact same thing. I'm very surprised another rider doesn't know you never touch another guy's bike! I have a friend of 20 years that just upgraded to a new Road Glide. When he was showing it to me I was interested to sit on it and feel how it sat under me. Did I just get on it knowing a long time friend wouldn't mind??? Of course not.... I asked him..... just as I would expect anyone to ask me to do the same. Of course he obliged, but there is a certain amount of respect due there that needs to be present. I'm sure if you had wanted to surprise your friend with the filthy bike by washing it without asking, he probably would have been put off.

It's kinda like another man's wife, you just don't touch!! :Boxing:

It's as if he was that 'parking lot devil' that does all anonymous vandalism, and if we ever catch him...

'It was YOU!!'

This guy knew this was your button and he wanted to push it.
Your reaction was the only way he would 'get' how he wronged you.
He deserved it and needed it.

I think we can all relate to this cuz we all wish we could catch the guy who carelessly or intentionally abused our property and pride. (if I can speak for everyone.)

Dan

I probally would have reacted the same way. Having said that, I wouldn't have been able to rest well or enjoy the rest of my trip untill I gave the guy a heartfelt apology Da Rules!

Hey, at least now I'm sure no one will come within 10' of your bike now...Your a madman/lunatic TL :out:

Consider us your warm feeling therapy group, TL. Most here couldn't fathom you NOT reacting the way you did.

Hope the rest of your time down here is happier. Sorry about the weather.

(Why do we always apologize about the weather down here as if there's something we can do about it or some oversight in planning?)

To everyone my situation is a lot worst than yours. someone bump into my car in traffic, I went off kicking his car and doors. now im facing leaving the scene and assault. so I learn my lesson, just chill.
