This is interesting. You can see two distinct groups of answers, pretty much.

1. Those of us that just detail for fun, and can't justify spending that much money on one aspect of a hobby. (Low-end of the answers.)

2. The pro's who can recoup the investment by justifying higher prices with a higher quality product. (Mostly the higher-end of the answers.)

Personally, I'd say $50 is the most I'd ever spend, and even then, that's pushing it, and it better be considerably better than the $15-20 waxes/sealants. Therefore, I picked the $20 option.

the delta between that wax and a $35 wax is going to be so small as to not justify the additional expense.

I won't get into if the difference is noticeable because that discussion is fruitless BUT the delta between what I can charge for a run of the mill lsp vs what I can charge for a premium lsp justifies it exponentially!

I just bought P21S and thought $32 was expensive. After I finish or come close to finishing the P21S, I'll try out Souveran and do a side by side to see if I notice a difference.

Ok not to rattle anyone this is just my opinion!!!!!! You spend between $20,000 to $40,000 for a new car and you will not put a quality product on it for protection and looks? So really it not the price, but is what your using, a quality product and does it give you the looks you want?

you don't need to spend $2000 to get quality products. There are plenty of excellent, quality products to pick from, most of which are under $20. I don't even spend $2000 a year on gas, nor on insurance, things that are REQUIRED in order for me to actually drive and own a car. So why would I waste $2000 on a can of wax only to protect something that will only deflate in value over time? Let's face it, by the time your RX8 ever actually increases in value (if ever), you'll probably be dead by then. You're not exactly protecting a priceless collector's item here. In most people's lifetime, they'll never go through $2,000 worth of LSPs. For that kind of money, I'd rather have a variety of products to pick from instead of just one.

OHH NO !!!!!!!!!! THATS NOT MY POINT AT ALL!!!!!!! THE TITLE OF THE THREAD IS WHAT WILL YOU PAY FOR A WAX. Yes I do own Vintage but do I need it? NO!!!!! Do I expect my car to increase in value? NO!!!!! Forget I own Vintage!!!!! You misunderstood what I was trying to say. And I understand why you would think the way you responded.

My point is cost has nothing to do with the quality or performance of a wax or sealant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THAT IS WHAT PEOPLE NEED TO LOOK FOR.....NOT HOW MUCH SOMEONE PAYS!!!!!!!!!!

Heck, some Men polish, RMG, and Natty's blue I would be set.

Regards!!!!!

i would say $50 is my absolute max!! i think its just insane to spend anything more than that on anything but a rotary, PC, UDM or flex..

I would make the 2k purchase instantly if i could use it to sell to my clients... but you have to pay extra yearly to do it commercially apparently.

If i get a customer that want mystery on his car then by god i think he should have it... for a price :). I would charge him probably about 50 - 80 extra for it just because if he wants it... he can pay the extra.

For myself i will probably buy mystery at some point in my life or maybe something a little more high dollar.

I wonder who put 10k<....? Anyone wanna step up?

OK, I've seen this case made before and I just can't buy into it. Let's assume the higher priced product has the advantage of durability, gloss, etc. That does not mean that 21, NXT, NB, etc., etc. are not quality products. The issue I have is even to a trained eye there will only be a small increment in difference in gloss, warmth, or durability. To probably 99% of the population on equally prep'ed vehicles they will not be able to distingush the difference. I guess if I truly believed that any lsp below a $200 price point was junk then my viewpoint would be different and I could justify that cost for a $20,000 - $40,000 vehicle. But to each his own, I do understand from a marketing perspective there is a high-end segment to practically any product made.

I put my max at $80.00. With that said, if I added up the cost the current waxes/sealants in my arsenal today I'm sure the cost was in excess of $500.00. Now, would I pay that much for one container of wax? I might if it could be proven to me that such a product is worth that kind of money. All I see is opinions on the high priced(to me) products from those who have them or the manufacturs of such products. I would like to see a side by side judged, not by me, but detailing experts. Otherwise it's just debate. Now, with all that said, I can't say that I was ever dissatisfied with any wax or sealant from my max of $80.00 down to the $3.00 bargain bin.:wavey

Great thread by the way!

For $200 it should absorb bug splatter , $500 - rocks ought to deflect off it and for $1000 or more it better be there when I roll over in the morning then cook me breakfast.

:rofl

I won't even touch this one.

Paying big money for wax is all relative to how much money you make, and what your worth. $100 is not the same to a person making $40,000 a year and a person making $300,000.

Same here :D

Seems like every time this comes up the threads end up about the same way.

Different people have different thresholds of significance, and for different reasons.
