What is the best car wash shampoo and why??

Garry Dean

Garry Dean Quality!
As the title says. I usually use Blue Coral wash and wax f$$or customers cars because it cleans well and its inexpensive, but I offer my Premium package where I use all premium products. Im looking for a good car wash shampoo that you can tell a difference with. Got any suggestions? What do you think of Poorboys wash shampoo? Is it worth the $35 per gallon??

I still really like Megs Gold Class a lot.It offer awesome sudding and leaves the paint slick.

Nufinish car wash also looks good, similar to CG's citrus gloss shampoo.

there are alot of good OTC car wash's (DG901, GC/NXT, EO1, etc)...

I'll only comment on the OTC shampoos I have used. I really like GC. The NXT I didn't feel was quite as slick. It does smell amazing though.

'i\'ve only used 6-8 shampoos and so far the gold class was the best. it seems to have the best lubricity. blue coral for the price. and I got a free jug of mequires the other day (the pink stuff) when I bought the NXT 2.0, and it was ok'

I believe both of these soaps provide awesome sudness and slickness...

- Poorboys SSS

- Duragloss 902/901

I will be trying Z7 this Spring since I get it locally.

Gold Class for me, its lubricity is good for me, suds great, and leaves suface slick.....oh yeah, it smells wonderful

Well I had Gold Class, then just switched to DG 901. DG was IMO way better on the suds. It keeps suds for a very long time, I was impressed. DG 901 is now my favorite shampoo!!

Nah, you can get great shampoos for 15-20 a gallon. Auto Magic's is good, and CG's Citrus Wash n Gloss is good too. Not sure you can tell a huge difference in end results though. Most of the difference is in ease of using the shampoo.

That's good to know Tim. I'm now relieved knowing I'm not cheating my customers by not utilizing the expensive products some might suggest I should use.

For the deep cleanings how does the CG Citrus compare with the P21s Citrus Total Auto?

I was under the impression the P21s was to be used very selectively.

Griot's, but it *is* sorta pricey. Much better lubricity than GC, good cleaning, *very* gentle on LSPs. It's the only thing I use these days and I give it much of the credit for my minimal wash-induced marring (my foamgun-centric wash methods don't hurt either ;) ). I hear the DuraGloss is almost as good as the Griot's, according to people who've used both.

For something more OTC/reasonably priced, you might look into Meg's #62, which was my pre-Griot's fave.

Funny, but I wasn't favorably impressed with GC :nixweiss I tried it after reading all the raves here but it just didn't do it for me, not enough lubricity mainly.

I've tried some shampoos that other people have liked, but the suds wouldn't last. I think it is beacuse of the hard water I have to work with. It kills some shampoos and not others. Poorboy's stuff seems to work just fine in hard water; I get too many suds to start, and never run out. Plus, it does a fine job of gentle cleaning.

If I wasn't using hard water, I might decide another brand works better.
