Bankers after hours:

[Flamesuit on]

Eh, gotta watch those generalizations, my best friend is a banker (and might even see this thread). Two other bankers I know are also just as good as anybody could be.

[Flamesuit off]

But yes indeed, I'll gladly join in when it comes to bashing people in banking like the ones who precipitated the Recession, let alone those who out-and-out lied to everybody (including their investors), e.g., the [individuals] at Citi. [Shoot], those guys were even lying to each other...."string 'em up!" says I.

Email negotiating is not effective in my experience. I was really planning on getting another duplicate vehicle of what I have ina different color combo but go figure, they made so few Sport/tech/premium 2016 that there are none in the NE period. They did located 1 in texas and its black (not up for that) and one gunmetal grey (? not sure I love it) in the \Midwest but I will have to pay for transport and a fee for not trading a car. Plus I cant pick it up and must take delivery in NY.

TO build a car, it takes 5-6 months, and my lease is up in 6 weeks., I'm now looking at other cars and they all are no really what I want, and the one I could like are even more money that I should not spend on a lease. The only thing close is a Audi A6 but in my price range it is a 2.0 engine and I will be driving it Saturday (in the snow I hope) to see if I can deal with the acceleration.

Same here. I'm good at negotiating but at some point it just gets tiring wasting a whole day with sales people. It's even worse when trying to buy a car that's hard to find in the first place. I spent several months looking for my current car without any mods. Although finding an impreza wrx unmolested was even harder..

Have you tried negotiating through emails with different dealers? I think that's the route I'll try next time I buy a car.

Too bad you guys are finding the New Car Purchase to be less-than-fun. Oughta be something really enjoyable, but it doesn't sound that way.

JSFM35X- When considering today's Audis, note that individual examples can vary to an *incredible* degree with regard to how the DBW behaves. If you go that route, make sure you get a good one and note that I've never heard of them being able to "fix" one that's not right.

And I'll be curious to hear what you think of how the brakes are with regard to sensitivity. I have to *really* recalibrate myself with some Audis and a few have had a really odd feel, like not at all linear.

We had the same experience when we bought the Fusion my wife used to have. I don't have a problem driving to get the deal I want, so I emailed several dealers in the Chicagoland area to see where our best bet was going to be. I basically couldn't get a straight answer or an OTD price out of any of em.

I love cars, I loathe buying them

At one time it didn't really bother me, but now a days I've got better things to do with my time. And the only time I had what I guess you could call fun at a dealership is when I was negotiating a car for my wife. The salesperson was being stingy and hardly wanting to work with us, so I kept at it to the point of them literally walking away and crying saying they didn't get paid enough to deal with this. And it wasn't like I was getting an attitude or anything with them, I was just adamate on not overpaying and getting what was fair. Eventually the manager came over and talked with us and we ended up at an agreement and buying the car.
After the fact I kind of felt bad, but at the same time why screw around when in the end they'll come to a compromise anyway. Although some mangers will stop negotiating altogether and let you walk for good, or eventually call you back with a better offer. I've seen both.

On buying new cars, I haven't done it since the days when I knew the owners of the dealerships I was doing business with (they're all gone now :( ). Did the S8, which involved a weird trade-in situation, with a handshake and he basically told his Sales Manager to just shut up and leave us alone. As I keep saying, good thing for me that today's cars have "features" I won't live with.

Two things are really irritating me right now:

1. Cleaned carpets last night. This morning one of my cats pukes all over carpet.

2. Going to closing fri and bank still can't give me the exact "cash to close". Yesterday it was one amount - an hour later it jumped by FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS! Now, this morning they send me another document and its down by $1700. Bank says they are "working" on an exact number. I've been after them for a week - still no exact number. How hard can this be???

People who ask about my which way I swing in politics.

I tell them I have none, as I'm trying to be successful in life don't have time to listen nor invest time/research into something that won't benefit me. I tell them I invest my time in my skills so I can get ahead in my career and in life... they usually take a step back an re-evaluate things after that.

Also - Electric car evangelists, who know nothing but rhetoric. (That really pisses me off)

I'm a huge fan of Tesla and other EV cars, they are awesome and for daily drivability superior in almost every aspect to the ICE. However, when I hear some moron try and lecture me with false facts and BS, I can't help but rip them apart verbally, then tell them I'm on their side, then educate them correctly and then lecture them to not be a mindless idiot spewing typical hippy facts but to use real ones.. it gets you farther and people will take you far more seriously.

I really can't stand people who read one google fact and spew misinformation and act like they know it all. It happens with all aspects of life...

Oh yeah, I can so relate to this fiasco....

I bought my last house closing late last summer, and at CLOSING, they tell me - "well, since you used your VA Loan, the VA is going to charge you a $7800 fee for using your VA Loan... - Oh, its ok, we can fold it into the Loan.... Yeah.... a big thank you.... :(

And the Closing Cost number itself, kept changing, all the way to the end.
I had to almost bail out of the deal several times BEFORE I got to Closing and then there was this VA Loan thing....
Yeah, you could HEAR my gears grinding in that office...

It took almost 6 months to get to this point, having to deal with Useless Realtors -(?) who are now reduced to just an Order Taker -
and not really interested in helping people buy a house...

I had one Realtor (?) lady tell me she could only go look at a few houses a day because it was too hot, and she could not at all be in the sun during the day.... Really????? How about you think of a new job then - something you can actually work an 8hour day???

I would tell these supposed Realtors-(?) what I was looking for, what price range, size of rooms, lot size, elevation, etc., and they would just send me all the listings for that day, so I had to go through dozens of wrong properties, most days not even finding 1 that would be worthwhile driving 1.5 - 2 hours one way to look at..

And then these Realtors (?) would get angry and say discourteous things to me on line because I never wanted to go look at the piece of crap dumps they were sending me info on...

Yeah, don't get me started on this... :)

People hanging up on the second ring. My mother in law does this every time she calls and then complains about how we never answer the phone.

While Stokdgs could relate to your realtor hassles, I relate to the cat-mess!

Our last cat (died last summer) had, uhm..issues, seemed like we'd be almost out the door when she'd have some hideous accident all over a rug/sofa/etc. of the kind that needed immediate attention. Bloody-mess most of the time...she was like that for years and they never did figure out what was going on. Didn't seem to bother *her* any but sure disrupted our schedules.

I've always wondered why animals seek out carpet to throw up on. We've got tiled portions of our house, but the dog will walk over to the carpeted areas to throw up on

Horrible food service. Nothings worse than being at the mercy of someones laziness. I went to Buffalo Wild Wings last night and the server forgot every drink request and walked by our table a few times without ever making eye contact or checking on us.
