What Grinds you gears??

I have quite a few things (maybe I'm an irritable person? Lol).

Rude and inconsiderate people

There's a laundry list of things people do when driving...slow drivers in the left lane, tail gaiters, people who pull out in front of you and then drive slow, people with no knowledge of the right of way at a 4 way stop

I deal with the general public for work, so my biggest one might be people who are complete *@#holes for no reason to a person they don't even know

#3. Even though I respect semi-tractor/trailers and drivers i just can't stand those that think they own the road because they drive one. For instance, I live in a rural area and they are good on the single lane highways around here. When I make a trip to a bigger city and get on the interstate(2 lane interstate here is about 50 miles away that I use) and I am approaching 2 tractor/trailers from behind. The back one decides to pull into the left lane to pass the other without checking his mirror that I am approaching at a considerable faster speed. The slower one is running about 3 to 5 miles below the posted limit and the one that pulled out to pass is going roughly 2 mph faster. Imagine how far and long it takes before the slightly faster one pulls gets around and pulls back in!

Since we're on the subject of semi's, I have a thing that really irritates me. The only way in and out of town is to go over mountain passes (unless you take the turnpike). Semi's are supposed to pull over at the top of the mountain(s) and let passenger vehicles by, loaded or unloaded. Rarely do they do this and hold everybody up for 10 miles. I've literally looked in my rear-view mirror and could not see the end of the jam-up of vehicles. This happened yesterday just as JLG let out (appox 1200 employees).

All the talk about flat tires prompts me to be Mr. Brightside and tell ya all that earlier this week when Accumulatorette's one snowtire got a nail in it my Audi dealer sent their guy down to my place (two hours of driving through a winter storm each way) to get it and they removed/patched/reinstalled/rebalanced it (without messing up the wheel) and had it back to me that same day. FOR. NO. CHARGE.

Hey, you folks who see Setec Astronomy on [other forums] - somebody please give him my regards, I miss having him posting here.

Guess I might as well post that I do get kinda irritated by people who are ungrammatical and I have a pet peeve about people misusing "begs the question", using it as if it means "raises the question".

Spelling errors (or grammer/punctuation/whatever errors), eh...if I [mess] up I hope somebody *does* point it out to me. Maybe it's a typo, maybe I need schooling, but I oughta know either way. (One of Accumulatorette's degrees is in English and she's a top-flight Orthographer.)

Why do people take the lines that they do through 90° turns?!? They turn is *so* too early and basically end up out of their marked lanes twice in one turn cut into the cross-street lane and then go off into the berm once they get through the intersection). What's that saying..."friends don't let friends early-apex". Seems like folks are afraid to turn the wheel very much or something...

"but I oughta know either way"

I think you "ought to" know that I don't think oughta is in the dictionary. But maybe you ought to ask
Accumulatorette to make sure.

I don't ever point out someone's typos or grammatical errors but, I couldn't help myself. I am bad myself, especially when I mostly use the tablet. It does allow me to edit a post. Spelling is a strong suit but I lack punctuation. I am sure I have not used punctuation correctly in this post. But then I am getting too old to care.

Heh heh, you're spot-on there, calling me on my, uhm...attempts at vernacular-posting! Guilty as charged! My wife isn't exactly thrilled that I post that way :o I got into the habit of quick-typing "oughta, shoulda, etc." and don't feel like breaking the habit. Yes indeed, when it comes to criticism for that kind of [stuff] all I can do is shrug and take it. I too am too old to get twisted about other people's opinions so I pretty much just make/follow my own rules abut what does/doesn't pass muster and when other people's speach bugs me I just keep it to myself.

LOL I did not think oughta was a word either but I wasnt going to say anything!

People that think because they have a 4x4 they can drive fast on snowy roads. They be like "we can stop faster because we have a big 4x4"

I am not trying to give you a hard time but wondered if uhm was a word and got this
Urban Dictionary: uhm
:D
I could not find the word speach in the free dictionary website either. I am only pointing this out because you said you like it.:lol2:
Also just to satisfy my own curiosity?!

Hmmm I wonder what deep thinking

I've worn a million hats over the years and most recently I've been driving a sightseeing bus through a downtown core area.
I just shake my head at the pedestrians who just step into a crosswalk without looking to see if anything is heading their way. Another gear grinder for me is the safety gap big rigs leave in front of them for longer stopping situations. Drivers often take advantage of those gaps and dodge in and stop, necessitating a quick and dangerous stop by the bus or truck.

And I'm really enjoying the attention Accumulator and Ronkh are getting. Good humour, and Accumulator, you're a really clever fellow with a delightful wit. I really enjoyed your comment on spelling and grammar and spelling it with an er. I know you did it on purpose and I giggled like a little school girl.

So I think I am up to #4. As mentioned in an earlier post I live in a rural area. I normally drive 5 mph over the limit, that is the norm here. I hate it when other drivers think the appropriate following distance at 60 mph is 30 feet or less. With no oncoming cars I slow down 10 mph and the follower won't pass, not even on the second attempt. On twp separate ocassions I have tapped the brake lighty to take my car out of cruise mode, one time the follower had to lock up his brakes to keep from hitting me, second occasion it wasn't a lock up but since the woman wasn't paying attention to the road almost drove her van up my bumper. Both occasions were about 4 years apart but this last time I am going to have to take a different approach to the situation, such as maybe just pulling off the highway and let them go by. I just don't understand why people need to follow that close. Like a lot of states we have a deer problem here or whatever the situation may be and have to quick stop it is going to be at least 2 car pile up.

When I had the Suzuki, I was invisible. *I* was the one who had to weave through traffic on the highway b/c no one would let me pass or get over when I come up on them doing the speed limit and they're texting on their phones. NOW that I have the Camaro, EVERYONE wants to race me, soccer moms, grandmothers, mini vans, SUV's & cross overs ... and let's not forget the econo-racers. I drive the same (actually more sedate if you can believe that) with the cruise locked at 5 or 10 over and everyone has to do a 'fly-by' to go around me or rides my butt.

Now I will usually just get out of the way, if you signal you want to go by, but I had one woman riding my backside when I was doing 60/55 so I bumped it up to 65, she gets closer, I bump it to 70 and now I can't see her headlights (she has plenty of room to move over), so I downshift & floor it, hitting go to jail speeds & leaving her behind. So I slow down and move into the right lane because my exit is coming up and a minute or so later she goes flying by me, waving at me with only one of her fingers, like *I* was the one riding *her* butt. :dunno:
