I've been browsing and hearing about Meg's professional line of products, but havent tried a lot. I'm looking for the ULTIMATE look......i mean shine, slickness, depth, in other words i want to make heads turn lol ;) Jesstzn told me about Meg's #34 FD, but aside from that one, i'm completely lost cause reading Meg's product descriptions, i find a lot of them look the same and cant really make an easy classificaton of their products. I kknow for a fact that some here use them and im also certain you can help me out in my selection of products.

AS for polish, it s pretty clear, next summer i'll give DACP a try, but as mentioned above i'm lost as to what to use for the ultimate show car look that make head turn.

I'm qite certain that not all of meg's products are worth buying, and that is what this thread is about.

talk to you later all and thanks in advance:xyxthumbs

Meguiar's DACP (Dual Action Cleaning Polish), followed by your favorite wax /sealant of choice. Top with FD #51 QD (Final Detail from the professional Line( gallon size and up only).

With that said I use many product lines and hours, ok days :o of anal PREP to achieve my desired results.

For that head turning look PREP is the key. Use surface preparation to achieve the head turning look you desire and a product, Meguiar's or whatever, to protect it.

Hope this helps. :wavey

So far this is my best Meg's head-turning look (after surface prep):

#7 (you can sub #81, though)

followed by #20 Poly Sealant

followed by #26 Hi Tech Yellow Wax (paste)

I guess I'd use FD or Pinnacle Crystal Mist to QD it, but I never leave anything on long enough for it to need QD'd....

In order to try to sift through the confusion about all the lines and numbers of Megs products I called up forthe free professional catalog. All the pro and detailer line products are pictured and described in it. It helped me out a lot.

As for the FD: :up :up :up

I've "messed" with other product lines but always come back to Mequiar's. It's tough to go wrong with any of their products. Right now I'm quite fond of Medallion Premium Paint Protection. It's a sealant that is very easy to use and looks great on its own and if you want, you can top it with a carnauba wax.

I'll throw my .02 Cents in.

I've seen first hand the capabilities of DACP and it works extremely well. If you paint finish is better than average the DACP will take it to the next level.

I also have had the opportunity to compare the following products head to head on Spruce Green, Pearl Black and Black Mercedes paint all in good condition.

1. Megs #26 Hi-Tech Yellow Wax - Slightly darkens the paint on all three colors, good reflective qualities, excellent gloss, very little swirl filling abilities, Very easy to apply, slightly more difficult to remove than P21

2. P21S - Doesn't add any depth or darkness to paint on all three colors, good reflective qualities, has excellent gloss, no swirl filling abilities, very easy to apply and remove.

3. Megs #16 - identical appearance as P21S, harder to apply and most difficult to remove of all samples.

4. Megs Gold Class - provides darkest finish and depth of all tested products on all three colors, excellent reflective qualities, very minor swirl spiderweb filling ability, more difficult to apply and remove but not too bad.

5. Megs Lab Sample D - provides darker finish and depth than #26 but not quite as dark as Gold Class, excellent reflective qualities, excellent swirl spider web filling (I had a completely swirl/spiderweb free finish on my hood and havent' polished in over two months), easy to apply and remove.

Chip, if you're looking to buy products for next spring wait until the Lab Sample D is on the market in January. It is definitely worthy of the praise it's getting so far. Mike has taken a great deal of feedback from forums like this one and enthusiasts like us during the R&D phase of this product. It's everything we all want in a wax as far as ease of use, smell and results. The only parameter I can't provide feedback on is protection, we'll have to wait on that one.

I can't wait to get my hands on a sample to try on the whole car.

Hmm, I don't think I'd go along with that. While not all of their products are the absolute best to everyone, I can think of very few that I felt just sucked. Actually, the only one I can think of is the Gold Class Rubber and Vinyl Protectant. And it wasn't that terrible, just a lot glossier and greasier than I expected. Almost all of their products are good products, and worth the money. It just may be that there's something else you think is more worth it. And, I thought this thread was about getting the ultimate shine?

As far as ultimate shine, first you need to prep based on the condition of your paint. Once you've done that, glaze it... #7, #3, Hand Polish, Deep Crystal Polish, whatever. Nothing will bring out depth, shine, and gloss like one of their glazes.

Thank you all for your comments, it helps me much..........i've taken good notes of the above......especially the #3 and #7 which product description i read, and i must say it is interesting, and will try them for sure, but one thing i wonder about is : is #3 pretty much like #7 one is for machine use(or so it seems) and the other is like for hand use......i just wonder if either one will give me the same results ?

Currently reading the polishing section of Meg's professional products, and i have to say that pretty much all products claim they will yield good sheen, so i just wonder why they make so many of them, i mean all of them in the polishing section claim to remove oxidation so i guess anyone of them is ok but maybe there is one that does the job better among those...............i may sound somewhat confused and im sure im not the only one here :lol

how about the duration now ? do those megs professional products last reasonably long a time ?

VERY NICE review by MBZ500E!!! Could LSD be better than Zaino or S100/P21s???!!! I can't wait to find a product that REALLY fills swirl webs!

I think the reason Megs makes so many products is because they can. Seriously. If a company comes out with a product, say #81, that's "better than" #7, lots of customers will flock to #81... but some people will look down and spit on the ground and say, "Aaaaah, they shoulda kep' #7." Meg's has all the R&D done on both products, so, they keep them both on the market, and satisfy the customers, and of course confuse the new customers (until they come here and figure it out).

Right now, your best bet would be DACP, Swirl Free, Hand Polish and then #26 High Tech Yellow Wax. Use them in that order. You will get a very wet and rich looking finish. Not as bright and reflective as S100 would leave it but it will have a wetter look to it. That combo on black or red will be so close to Pinnacle Souveran you'd have a very hard time telling them from each other....and best of all, if you order them all in quarts, it'll be about the same price as one jar of Souveran.

This is a 1982 Porsche 911 that I detailed in early 2000...and yes, that is the original paint! It had some fading, so I went over it with DACP, SFP, HP and #26 and as you can see, it has a very warm and wet glow.

Sorry about the quality, my scanner blows.

I`ve tried DACP on my dads car, i got most of the scratches out, but the problem is that i get a haze and if i really concentrate i can see swirl marks, but its not really noticable but its there.

Used speed glaze (Meg`s) and then used cleaner wax. Got rid of the swirls but after a couple of washes and two weeks went by, the swirls are back. Means that speed glaze and cleaner was just fills in making the swirls not noticable.

Will the SFP or HP completely remove those marks i mention? I got Meg`s red pad and yellow pad plus the finishing pad. Since i did DACP of the whole car, i don`t need to do it again so i should go for SFP and then HP or just straight to HP. And i'm using a Makita 9227C.

I but what i'm impressed is #6 cleaner wax. It manage to remove some scratches on my car, i was just fooling around testing it on my door handle and i did all by hand just applied medium pressure using a cotton cloth. Does this means its a good alternative to Scratch X? Havent tried ScratchX so i dont know how good it is. Or the #6 just cleans and fills the scratches?
