Weekend trip.. what should I bring?

I'm going to Seaworld on Saturday, but will be leaving tomorrow around noon time. I have to pack when I get home which won't take me long, but I was thinking of taking some car care stuff for the car for emergency purposes. I have the ususal flashlights and tools in the trunk etc...

I already washed the car and applied a coat of Z-5pro for some added protection. I know it will get dirty, but you never know what I might encounter on the highway like bugs/stones/cardboards/trash etc. So this is what I might bring just in case. Lets see...

-WW MF towels for windows

-Extra paper towels for windows

-Extra Pakshak MF towels for bird crap

-Z-6

-JW Quick Wash

-Scratch-X (just in case something hits my car and I can buff it out ASAP)

-Anything else?

I think that covers most of it. Thank God I have a clearbra so that way bugs and rocks won't hurt my front finish and it's less effort to remove all the bugs with JW QW.

I don't plan on wiping or washing it when I arrive, but you guys get the point... You always have to be prepared for a road trip!!

Oh and I'm parking in the way back at the hotel too :)

A++ for effort. Do you need to bring a glass cleaner with you too? I wasn't sure if I saw that listed. Also, I personally wouldn't bring the scratchX. I prefer to really wash and clay an area before I'm going to be doing any polishing.

I don't use glass cleaner. I usually wipe my windows with a QD like Z-6 or JW QW.

I would bring the scratch-x because it's easy to use by hand and it's quick and very easy. You know we are all about appearance, but if I didn't have any kind of polish of some sort then I would die because I can't wait to get home to buff it out. You know what I mean? :)

Guess this is more of my Autopian Heresy, but...

I only take window cleaning stuff, and a few very plush MFs and QD for bird-bombs. When I travel the vehicle is just transportation and I'm all about the trip.

My travel-essentials are more geared towards dealing when the unexpected hits the fan- stuff like emergency provisions, flares, tools, and tape. Some of that stuff came in handy following the deer-incident.

Heh heh,... scratches while on a trip? I didn't let my beloved (and irreplaceable) S8's getting *deered* spoil our weekend! Hey, it was still drivable :nixweiss

^ True, but at least I'm not taking the PC with me, so the scratch-X is good enough.

Scratches from road debris, but I hardly never been in contact with one, but you never know :)

Plus I hate when you think you have a scratch on you car, but it's either bug guts, or dust! It's just scary, and your heart stops for a second until it's just dust. HAHA!

Last time I took a trip to FL my car looked like it had been through the world war of bugs. There was even this giant one, don't even know what it was, sticking to my wheels.

To make matters worse on the way down to stopped in Cary NC to hit a hotel. I parked away from everyone in the last spot. I woke up the next day and found a big blue dent in my silver car. Someone must have parked next to me at night and hit my car with their door. I should bring orange cones or something and put them in the spaces next to my car.

I always keep some rags, MF towels, Megs Interior QD, and QD for the paint with me.

QD for bird bombs, interior QD for mishaps inside and to remove dust when needs.. Rags to remove gas when it over flows and it seems like it happens alot for some reason.

Bottle of QD and a couple of towels is about all I take.

Just need to be able to remove any bird bombs and clean the bugs off the windows. I don't really worry about washing until I get home.

if your gonna bring scratch x, i would bring some wax as well. dont want to polish and then have unprotected paint for the rest of your trip.

If it were me, I would just enjoy the trip and not worry too much about the car. A qd and some mf's would be fine for me.

You are travelling in FL...Your car is going to be covered with love bugs on the front, windshield, and roof. Enjoy the trip and do not worry about the other stuff....In the end of things, you have to remember, that it is just a car...If you get a scratch, is it going to ruin your trip? You are going to a place where the roads are very crowded, and construction is everywhere.

I live in FL, but it's just going to be about a 200 mile road trip.

The love bugs are starting to creep up now! Damn them!

If I get a scratch then so be it since I can remove it when I get home. I'm just worried about parking and construction. There's so many bad and aggressive drivers out there and parking in Orlando just sucks.

Besides..I've been to Otown many times so this is nothing new to me. I'll be ok with or with out any car care products for a few days :)

I dont know where you are staying there, but when I go to Orlando, we stay at the Omni or the Gaylord Palms. But ask if they have some reserve parking for a little extra. The omni doesnt advertise it, but they have it.

I usually go to same Marriott there, and would always park in the same area where there's few cars.

I think you are going a little over the top. Your clear bra will be fine. All I suggest is a plush MF and QD for the bird bombs. That's really all you need.

You're going to feel really stupid for taking all that stuff with you only for some idiot to back into you or key your car or some other freak accident to happen. Believe it or not, it CAN happen to you, despite all your efforts.

I would just relax, bring only the eseentials, and enjoy the trip.

^ Good point. Clearbra is the differance maker.

If someone hits me then I'd be very upset, but that's not the case. But what I listed to bring is not much since it's all going into a plastic shopping back. So it's better to have it stored for all purpose use when paper towels are not enough especially if I spill something, or if somone is bleeding.

I'm out and no work for me for a week :)

Ohhh yes!! 22 mins and counting till my vacation! I'm so tired, I can use a nap right about now.

I was just at seaworld the weekend before last! We had a blast. All of the shows were pretty good. I took over 240 pictures.

I agree, you're going a bit overboard. It's just a car, one that's daily driven! You must not have owned your car for long because there will be a day when no matter how far you park or how isolated you are, someone or some thing will find a way to put a scratch, dent, or ding in your car. Sorry to give you the bad news, but it's inevitable unless you want to just have a garage queen. You can't obsess about little things like that, especially when it's going to be a nice car trip for some R&R.

I would bring a roll of Duct tape...never know when needed..I got a pin hole in the radiator hose and I had the tape ..it held me over till I got to a place to get a new hose and replace it....good duct tape is a life saver....
