Wax vs Sealant, Which is Better for UV Protection

I was thinking about how bored I am becomming reading about detailing anymore, before I read this this thread.:D

Ive got to admit the 'permanant'claim of opticoat has turned me off too. Clear coat itself is not permanant so how could opticoat be is my logical question?

No, Ive never used it and the last thing I want in my business is 10 years later all my customers comming back to me with their failing clearcoats and opticoats and complaining .

My customers tend to keep their cars long past the 5 year average and I enjoy the repeat business they provide every few months .

Plus I dont have a garage to apply it in so its not really an option for me.

It still may be a great product but I get tired of false claims .

I agree...That is what I have been saying all the long.

And do you think it's fair to test paint products on glass? Both sides of the glass look almost the same, how can you even say one is better than the other? And for someone who "knows a lot about detailing," bashing opti-coat is like a snake biting it's own tail...

There are 3 tested area's..the far left is the Griots Sealant..the middle is non protected and the right is sealed with the NanoSkin Express Hyper Sealant...no water there..it just runs off...I will make another video today just for you and you will see what Im talking about if Im not super busy. Btw that test was like a month and a half ago.

I have never bashed it..I have seen several times that it is a good product and it has its place...but its the "Permanent Claims" that I dispute.

Like I have said over and over again..the NanoSkin Hydrophobic Wax and the NanoSkin Shield Sealant/Coating are different then anything else. The NanoSkin Shield is designed to be applied over the NanoSkin wax so it will properly bond to the wax on a molecular level since its a glass molecule sealant/coating.
If its designed to work and be put on that order then it probably does bond well.

How long does it claim to last?

For those of you attacking the "Permanent" claim of opti coat, did anyone ever consider the fact that it's only about $50 bucks??? For something that lasts a good 4-5 years that to me is cheap! And nothing is permanent, or else opti-coat would be manufacturing army tanks...

Its the principle Addicted2bling,not the money.

A product should do what it says it does IMO or its false advertising.

I have been told atleast over a year and a half. The NanoSkin Hydrophobic Wax will last about 6 month and the Nanoskin Shield Coating will last atleast last in harsh elements as seen here in Western Wa. atleast so your looking over a year and half of protection with low maintance wash's or even spraying off the car which I can attest too.

So if you order a big mac, large fries, and 2 apple pies.... Does gettinf a diet coke counter act that :blabla::nana:

What we are talking about is that 1 product is claiming a permanent coating and another is not claiming that but long term protection.
Optimum has not been around long enough to prove its Permanent claim, maybe if its been around since1895 and its still going strong I would be all over this product...but its still a new product with no proved claim's to back it up.
