Wax for Las Vegas heat

I haven't had much luck down here in Florida with Carnubas holding up. Unless your car is a garage queen, I don't see any benefit to using one in high temp environment. I still enjoy the ease of their application, I just don't count on them lasting more than a few washes.

I was going to fire off how I totally disagreed and that I've had plenty of success with Carnaubas, and then I read your last statement. I too get a few(4-7) washes out of my Carnauba, but it lasts me probably 2-5 months per coat. I usually layer with a sealant underneath as well in case I don't have a chance to wax it before the wax is gone. Then again, I usually throw a coat of spray wax on whenever I wash and don't wax.

There's no doubt in my mind that the sealant layer lasts a lot longer. I've actually got 2 layers of NXT on my car atm only (I've been busy! damn school stuff!). However, I think it all comes down to how long you're planning for stuff to last. Really, a month and I'm happy. I'm due for a total strip down and polish and start over soon anyways. I see no issue with getting a month out of a carnauba though even in the Florida heat.

My recommendation: Use whatever you like the look of the most on top, and throw a layer of a sealant down as a base coat. Meg's NXT works good for this, but any of your favorite polymer sealants will work (klasse AIO, Zaino, Wolfgang, etc.)

You said Z2 looks promising but you want a sealant.... Z2 IS a sealant. "Sealant" usually just refers to a protective product that is synthetic/polymer-based, as opposed to a "wax". Z2 is a sealant. I believe FK1000P and Pink Wax are hybrids of sorts if I recall? A wax with some synthetic polymers added? Z2, 1000P, or a Collinite product should all work well.

I knew that Drew, I don't know why I posted that. I'm retarded.

After a few months on my EX-P protected silver Lexus, I have to give HUGE props to Poorboy's EX-P. I clayed/stripped/sealed/waxed in mid June and just washed it again on Tuesday night and it still gives me the ultra-small beads that let me know that the sealant is still fighting off anything that wants to touch the paint. And that is after a couple of months of mostly 100+ degree days.

When I was drying the car, it is getting a little "squeeky", so I know it's time for another wax layer, but the sealant is still going strong.

How 'bout the ultimate "high temp" product? aka FK1 1000p :)

+1 :2thumbs:

#1. Collinite 476 or 915 (both waxes that will last in the heat)

#2. Zaino Z2 is a sealant that will take the heat

I have found nothing else that compares in terms of durability. I don't know about FK-1000p having only just started using it, but from what I've read is was designed for high temps....so we shall see.

Note: I'm not sure if you will find a product that gives you a full year in LV.
