David Fermani said:I haven't had much luck down here in Florida with Carnubas holding up. Unless your car is a garage queen, I don't see any benefit to using one in high temp environment. I still enjoy the ease of their application, I just don't count on them lasting more than a few washes.
I was going to fire off how I totally disagreed and that I've had plenty of success with Carnaubas, and then I read your last statement. I too get a few(4-7) washes out of my Carnauba, but it lasts me probably 2-5 months per coat. I usually layer with a sealant underneath as well in case I don't have a chance to wax it before the wax is gone. Then again, I usually throw a coat of spray wax on whenever I wash and don't wax.
There's no doubt in my mind that the sealant layer lasts a lot longer. I've actually got 2 layers of NXT on my car atm only (I've been busy! damn school stuff!). However, I think it all comes down to how long you're planning for stuff to last. Really, a month and I'm happy. I'm due for a total strip down and polish and start over soon anyways. I see no issue with getting a month out of a carnauba though even in the Florida heat.
My recommendation: Use whatever you like the look of the most on top, and throw a layer of a sealant down as a base coat. Meg's NXT works good for this, but any of your favorite polymer sealants will work (klasse AIO, Zaino, Wolfgang, etc.)
