was wondering if anybody noticed this either?

Hi I was wondering if anybody had ever seen or used this product before? http://www.curtsautoglass.com/images/liquidlustre.jpg

A friend of mine used to use this wax a few years back and I could not help notice the packaging looks like another very popular product out there now. every time I use my Z2 I could not help but be reminded of the "exact "same unusual smell of Liquid Lustre. lastly no matter how much I pleaded my friend he never tried to test the wax with acid or flames as the ad on tv claimed.......

wonder if anybody fell for that ? :scared

let me know what you think

I have a bottle of that ,I also have something called Auri. Remember that stuff. I used Liquid luster in the early 90's its carnuba and cleaners. I opened that and my Z2 the only similarities are they are both pink. I think your reaching.

Back in 96 or so I had a contact at Surluster and He told me that there are very few facilities that actually produce wax, polymers and polishes and that most of the products that compete with each other are made at the same plant. Hmmmm, I wonder if a lot of the stuff we talk about and compare are actually made by the same people. They probably check out this site and laugh like hell all the way to bank. Just some food for thought!

dogma, I hear ya there. just like I have heard that there are only a few motor oil manufacturers. would that not bee a hoot? here we are all comparing products for their use and how long they last only to find out most are coming from the same place? thanks for the comment this is exactly the point I was making, guess they know the consumers very well.... always looking for a better product . have a good night

MongooseGA , that would not suprise me in the least bit. guess it pays to keep secrets in big business.... especially keeping secrets from the consumer. maybe they will smarten up and read some of these posts and see the average Joe can be pretty smart at times lol!

If you guys only knew...... I have had the privelege of speaking with a major car care product manufacturer and he fessed up that the line of products they make for boats is.............................. their automotive products with a little dye added so they are a different colour. They also sell a one step sealant and repackage it as a plastic polish - exact same product. In this case - they are doing this to please their customers. The suppliers who purchase these products demanded specific products for each purpose so they gave them to them. The suppliers then pass these on to you selling you the same products for different purposes - pretty sneaky!

I ahbor their sales tactics, but apparently, several autopians say Liquid Luster is a pretty good one step product.

Actually, Liquid luster was a good product and one the first I found that didn't dry white. I used it for a while and like anything else once stores started to carry it the product changed quality went down after mass producing. I think this is the case with several mass produced products you can get a Walmart and all the auto parts stores. I also have a passion for bodybuilding and the protein industry is kind of the same thing there are on a few companies that make it and then relabeled with several different company names. I feel that the companies that make only a few products and really make them well and have strict quality control

make the best products. Like protein its not how many products you make its the quality of what you make. Can a real quality minded company really have 10 different polishes,20 different waxes ?

ShineShop, you are right if we only knew what went on behind the scenes. maybe ignorance is bliss ,to some extent.

Scottwax, I would agree with your statement, why not just make a great product and let the results speak for themselves. sometimes less hype and marketing is better. GM comes to mind with their rear end fluid that is purple and grape scented....... do they really expect us to belive that they make their own fluid .it's like $25 a Qt ( Texaco is suppose to be the direct replacement) BTW my friend loved the Liquid Lustre, easy on easy off seemed to have a descent shine. I just could not get over how the color and smell is very similar to Z2 , not sure about the durability on the Liquid Lustre

dogma Liquid Lustre seemed to be descent, my friend used it for a while. The bodybuilding product line is a great anaolgy . how many companies can actually create their own whey protein? your last statement is right on ,make a few products that do what they are suppose to .quality instead of quanity

Yeah, I'm sure Mother's and Meguiar's are in bed together... ;)

While I'm sure you meant this in jest (at least I HOPE you did), it's these kind of flippant statements which get spread around and eventually get taken as the truth. Witness flatstick's reply post 2 below yours:

MongooseGA , that would not suprise me in the least bit.

There are several similarities between us and Meguiar's:

1) Both our company names begin with the letter "M"

2) Both end wit the letter "S"

3) Both are located in Orange County, California

However, that's the extent of it.

And, our women are better looking......

Setec - in retrospect, I now realize beauty is on the eye of the beholder, and cannot be quantified, much like "what product looks the best on my....".

But, there are differences we can quantify:

1) our cars are faster

2) we can drive around a race track quicker

3) my IQ is higher

4) my wife's VISA bill is higher

Well, maybe 3 out of 4.

My gosh...how did this happen. We met secretly on the grassy knoll... and said, "hey..two companies are better than one". But being slow witted, we needed to have names that were similar so that we wouldn't forget who we were...but not to similar so that we wouldn't get them confused while we were duping our customers.

Now that we have been found out, I am asking Michael Moore to do a documentary exposing the entire sordid wax and polish industry....from white carnauba to teflon...the truth will be told. This will make that whole Iraq thing look like a walk in the park...you know...the one with the grassy knoll?

Sounds like something I'll have to check out for myself (for purely objective scientific reasons of course).

Yeah, like milk. Some people think it comes from millions of individual cows, dispersed across the whole continent. In reality it comes from one massive milk deposit deep beneath Wisconsin and is pumped out through a secret wellhead controlled by the government.

Except goats's milk, that comes from a well in France.

PC.

FORREST, of course you guys have the nicer lookin' women, you're HQ'd in HB (Huntington). You know the pickin's are slim in Irvine. But Megs is a lot closer to Liesure World HAHA :scared

Yup, being totally sarcastic. While it's not dumb to thinkt hat some companies are are sharing/ relabeling products, it would be pretty stupid to think that all of them are. Saying that Meg's and Mothers are in cahoots together is like saying that Ford and Chevy sell the same car.

maybe they will smarten up and read some of these posts and see the average Joe can be pretty smart at times lol!

Reps from many big companies read these forums. Joe Shmoe is by no means smart for presuming something. If that was the case, then the serious readers and writers of Star, Globe, and Enquirer would be geniuses  Joe is smart for actually find a fact about it ;) Thanks for playing :wavey

Listen, I didn't want to offend anyone and I hope I didn't. I wanted to share some facts and experiances I have had over the years. You know and I know thats its highly unlikely that there are 3 or 400 different companies make detailing products. There are a lot of companies that make and repackage products for other companies ,thats fact. Do I presume to know which ones, some for sure and others I can only speculate.

I have learned a lot since joining this site and it looks like I will continue to learn. I can honestly say I have tried just about everything on the market . I thought I never tried Klasse but I guess I did because when I was talking to my brother he said I lent it to him. Never tried VM and I am sure a few more that you guys use.
