Was Trump out of Line?

Muhammad Ali made a great statement the other day in response to Trump's banning Muslims from entering the USA:

”I am a Muslim and there is nothing Islamic about killing innocent people in Paris, San Bernardino, or anywhere else in the world. True Muslims know that the ruthless violence of so called Islamic Jihadists goes against the very tenets of our religion.

We as Muslims have to stand up to those who use Islam to advance their own personal agenda. They have alienated many from learning about Islam. True Muslims know or should know that it goes against our religion to try and force Islam on anybody.

Speaking as someone who has never been accused of political correctness, I believe that our political leaders should use their position to bring understanding about the religion of Islam and clarify that these misguided murderers have perverted people's views on what Islam really is.”

That is so true about political leaders being more understanding. That's what boggles my mind...Trump has so much business background but he's not using that as a forefront for his campaign. I think he would be more liked if he focused on making America great through his business knowledge. We are ALL tired of how the government handles budgets, so why not focus on the business side of things? Instead, he's leading a campaign that is focused on hate.

Wow...that's a scary comparison. It just takes one person to stir up a mob in the wrong direction. Right now, that one person is Trump.
Right, because without Donald Trump there would be no anti Muslim sentiment

Well that's kinda unrealistic here. Every single group/religion/race will always have opposition no matter what. But Trump is simply adding to the hate, nothing more.

I totally agree. If he's such an amazing business man and a "winner" why not say - "hey here's my plan for improving the economy" or "these are the steps I'll take as president to bring home jobs from overseas"? Nope, because that's not news worth anymore.

Instead he take the easy potshots, gives the most outrageous sound bites, works the media into a frenzy, creating hate and fueling radical extremism...

Your absolutely right, so where are their leaders? why aren't they doing anything to stop these radicals? I have not seen one major muslim figurehead here take any kind of stance against this... Why should we americans have to reach out to them, when we are being attacked on our own soil. If they value this country so much then why aren't they the first condemning these acts and being PROACTIVE to stop them. Discussions like this make sick because people like you condemn the bad acts but offer no solution and that my friend is pathetic and weak. If your going to open your mouth, especially in the spotlight have a solution ready if not, get back in line and hold a candle for the next vigil thats right down the road...

If someone in my family was committing horrible acts in the name of my family, I would be the first to want to stop them.

They have condemned the attacks. Muslim leader despise ISIS. Why? Because ISIS has killed more Muslims across the Middle East then any other group. Muslim leaders who condemned the Paris attacks alone:

100% agree with you.

There is more of a chance to get killed by your nut job neighbor or even a family member than a foreign terrorist. This whole thing is BS just to install fear in his angry white supporters who many by the way (46%) are not even high school graduates. Nuff said.

Trump is doing all this to keep the media attention off everyone else by saying outrageous things. The media is greedy for any controversy so they play along...free advertising...who needs to pay to run ads.

This. Which honestly I'm glad. I'd like to see it keep the liberal media from trashing the rest of the field and see Ted Cruz come through in the end when it counts

Well this is certainly interesting:

Local Imam says he was forced to resign because he agrees with Trump on Muslim immigration - KBTV-TV FOX 4 Beaumont - Community News

BEAUMONT - by Haley Bull A political conflict is playing out within the walls of the Muslim community in Southeast Texas. A man who was the leader of Muslims in the area said Thursday the conflict has resulted in his ousting. "Don't get me involved in any political games in the name of religion. I am not here a political man," Dr. Nidal Alsayyed said. But it's political motivations he said have forced him to resign as Imam. "Sadly, it's Clinton versus Trump," he said. Dr. Al Sayyed told KFDM News he was forced to resign as religious director of the Islamic Society of the Triplex after making comments Monday in which he agrees with Donald Trump's statements that the U.S. should temporarily stop accepting any new Muslim immigrants into the country. While the religious leader said he expected the call to resign eventually, he said it was sped up by politics. "I think any future candidates, presidents who do not support the fact that we need to be more safe and more cautious about whom to bring into this country, whether a Muslim or not," Dr. Alsayyed said. His comments he said had nothing to do with politics, but the former Imam said Trump's comments are in line with the Islamic religion. "The text of the holy Qur'an says the loss of one life is equivalent to killing the whole mankind," he said. His viewpoint, in part, shifting after lingering questions about the backgrounds of the couple responsible for the mass shooting in San Bernardino. "But the way it happens when you see this mass shooting and you see some people coming with such a very peaceful background and all of the sudden the intelligences themselves, the agencies are not able to figure out what's happening, why all of a sudden this guy or this girl or that lady open fire and kill 15 people, because American Muslims are not doing their job in the country. So we need to stop, we need to stop taking new ones until we fix the existing situation," Dr. Alsayyed said. The religious leader said there is a problem with some American Muslims seeing a conflict between following their religious beliefs and their patriotism to the U.S., and an issue differentiating the religious community and its political role. He said the two should not mix. "I came to know this morning from some close contacts and friends over 102 Imams, religious people in Houston, were fired and forced to be basically leave their jobs, leave their mosques only because they did not get along with the political agenda for their board members," he said. Dr. Alsayyed said he took the position to help young people here understand Islam, and it's the youth where Islamic leaders should focus their attention. "Nobody is investing a dollar to basically raise the understanding what does it take for a Muslim to live in the United States," he said. KFDM News spoke with a board member of the Islamic Society of the Triplex. He said the board is deliberating and will issue an official statement by Saturday in response to the comments from Dr. Alsayyed, but the Islamic Society of the Triplex does take issue with the statements made by the former Imam.

How are non-radicalized Muslims supposed to stop the radicalized ones?

I sincerely doubt that fanatical Islamic terrorists will pay any attention to moderate followers of Islam. AFAIK groups like ISIL kill at least as many Muslims as they do Infidels.

When some nutjob kills people because "God hates [xxxxsexuals]" or for some other reason related to (nutjob's interpretation of) the Bible, we don't blame mainstream Christianity or say its leaders need to do more.

I can't help but wonder how welcome Muslim Autopians feel here these days.

Good post.....

I don't think people expect them to stop the bad guys, just be more vocal about how they are xxxxxxxizing the religion. Also I have heard Christian groups speak out about abortion clinic bombings and such as well as that hate group that shows up at Military KIA funerals.

And yes isis etc kill more Muslims than any other "group". (but I do wonder if that's not due to the main area of operations for them) AFAIK they will kill anone that does not agree with their "type" of Islam.

OMG it did it again! "Don we now our xxx apparel..."

Isn't there any sufficiently PC way to refer to people who are attracted to people of their same S E X?

Now I want to key in "heterosexual" to see if that's naughty/OK! Equal opportunity editing and all that ;)

OK, OK..back to the topic of Trump...

With what I've seen and heard, Trump would become the next Hugo Chavez. He'd alienate other countries by "speaking his mind" and putting his foot in his mouth. Plain and simple this guy would set up back 50 yrs!

Has not the current President already alienated other countries by "speaking his mind" and putting his foot into his mouth??

And plain and simple, how many decades has the current President already set us back today ??

So, what are you saying ??? That his angry white supporters are not really smart or something, because they didnt finish school ?

Are you implying then that those that have a "higher education" are somehow the only ones qualified to make better decisions, or have better opinions ?

I dont know, but last time I read a little history, some of the great inventions of the world were made by just some hard working people that never even got past the 5th grade...

Heck even in the last 2 wars I was lucky to be a part of, weren' t the Protestors of the wars the kids in college, getting their higher education ? How absolutely brave of them... :)
