Upteenth Black BMW...finished except for 26

This black 745i came to the shop as a trade-in. 92,000 on the odometer and it showed in the finish. Here's a representative sample

So, wet sanding in areas where needed

Put some 3M Extra Cut on a cutting pad (I'm gonna get better at drawing stuff with 3M compounds LOL)

I'll pull the car out in the sun tomorrow to check my work and it's supposed to be sunny, so the pics should really come out well.

Lol, love that Toto smiley polish on the car. The car's looking nice and wet. You're like the BMW King on here, as well at wetsanding. I don't see many posts where people have to do wetsanding, but I guess it just makes it look all that better. Keep up the great work. And what kind of pad is that on your rotary? It looks like the egg carton foam bed liner things, hehe.

That pad is a 6.5" 3M glazing pad and I use it for the spots where the big glazing pad doesn't work well. It's got pretty long fingers and works well EXCEPT I have to put the product on the pad instead of the car. Otherwise, those fingers splatter the product everywhere!



But, it does a nice job all-in-all.

Well Scott: any person that can detail in Texas heat AND bike ride or rollerblade afterwards is a benchmark I could probably never hit at my age. I gotta say that your posts some year's back was my incentive to take detailing to a paid hobby and now a profession. One of these doggone days, I'd sure like to meet you in person.

Top notch! This is true detailing with a rotary. Not like the PC details on brand new cars and 5 layers of nuba. Correction is everything and you are doing some very fine jobs.
 
Toto, how do you get your product to stay on your car vertically like that? Does it have a dispensing nozzle or tip and you just press it up next to the paint (I'd be scared to scratch the car doing it that way), but I don't see how else you could get it on the car and stick like that and not like slowly drip down or just fall off because it wasn't put on hard enough? I dunno what I'm talking about, but yea, how do you get it on vertical panels like that and make it stick without damaging the paint in the process?
