TURBO-CHARGE or SUPER-CHARGE?!?!?

hftw Audi 6.

your talking about the compression right?

the type s i think is 11:1 which is REALLY high to me...but people still turbo them( integra type Rs which have 11.5:1 compression i think).

go to revscene.net some people there if i remeber correctly have turboed rsx type s.

but if you have not been here go here and ask them.

clubrsx.com

OO make sure you find a very reputable place to do it. i would never trust half assed places, to turbo a beater let alone a car with 11:1 compression. If it is tuned correctly you will not encounter any problems.

Gosh, I learned 2 things from this thread:

Front wheel drive cars are worth improving. Hmmm, I'll ponder that...

The word "wut" has meaning. Hmmm, I'll ponder that...

vick-e-yea i'm sorry i forgot the word but yes compression is WHAT i was talking about it is 11:5 i beleieve and a couple of my friends in a local street racing "crew" SIR say that they would supercharge a car with that compression....the other good side of that is they have a guy who does supercharges and turbochargers either way i am set with that! He just supercharged my friend A-Rods brand new S2000 sh**'s hot!!!

-Jimmy Buffit- sorry my english isn't totally on i will work on it for u!!!!! :up and of course front wheel drive cars are worth improving!

Jimmy, I felt the same way. I really just prefer RWD cars, even with my *limited* driving experience. However, for someone my age and his (I think he's 17...?) it's not too, too bad.

k series refers to the engine.. and as far as turboing or supercharging goes.. have fun doing it to a k series.. ill like to see how long you can drive your car before it blows up. the compression is already so high.. you'll have to spend thousands of dollars to get your car prepped for forced induction. you'd be better of getting a 5spd base rsx and turboing that b/c the compression is lower.

Yea i'm 17 and personally i think that fwd cars and fine compared to rear. I actually think that if they are worked properly the are better in some ways. Idk yes i love rear wheel drive cars but i know a couple fwd cars that could give many rwd cars a run for there money!!!

Navindra- I think i would go with the supercharger if anything! I have been doing a lot of reading and finding that turbocharging the high compression v-tecs and Type-r's can actually do more harm then good! Now i just have to see if that is any good for the car!! ugh

ive watched two blown rsx's fry their engines, and ive heard multiple stories of boosted rsx's bending rods, shooting pistons through the head.. etc... thats why im going na. ill still have honda reliability, with a low 12 second car

Thats tru well i am gonna have to really research on it! Nice mods by the way!!! U have to meet up with me sometime i wanna hear that exhaust!! Got any ideas for wheels yet!??!

Low 12's, eh?

What are you mods besides the goodies you just got in? Headers, exhaust, CAI, ?

I assume it's handling is amazing.

Me, I prefer turbos. Look at my avatar. There's just something about that spooling that makes me grin. :D

I have a crazy idea: Why not keep your racing off the streets? Spend the money on some track time.

To answer your question though, I'd go turbo if you want to kill babies and grandmothers :)

I agree with the first sentence.

I must have misunderstood the 2nd :nixweiss

Keep racing off the streets well i first hand should say i have learned my lesson my uncle went to jail for 16 years.....involuntary man slaughter for killing a girl racing on dpa about 20 somewhat years ago! But as far as keeping it off the streets i agree but wen and if i race or am by races we make sure there is no harm that can be done to anyone around us!!! As for the babies and grandmothers thing?!?!?!!?!?

Ohh another thing there are no tracks within a small enough distance of me to want to commute to wen i can just go to a mile long straight away 10 minutes from my house that is abandoned....lol

Well, you're getting a car that can actually handle, why do you only want to race it in a straight line? I think Mustangs or Camaros would be much better suited to that (not to say they can't be made to handle well, it's just that they are great for drag-racing).

BTW, the 2nd comment was hyperbole.

the comment about how long the car will last.

i know of an 2000 type R thats been modded with a turbo with 12psi and its lasted till now with no problems. his main engine mod is the turbo and lightened flywheel.

its all about the tuning...if you do not tune the car correctly, it is going to blow up. like i said if you are going to turbo or charge the car, make sure the tuner you take it too have tuned cars like this(high compression cars that are turboed)

since its stock id say keep it under 7 psi. should make at least 50hp with proper tuning. id recomend a microtech chip. that chip may even give you 10 more hp plus some. dont use crappy safc. they are good but personally by what i have seen long run microtech is better.

if you have the money why not rip the engine out and do some rod upgrades and such if your afraid of the engine blowing.

but with such little boost it should be no problem. just make sure you go not go over 10psi just to be on the safeside

got it no i agree those cars are hot to but freekin suck down gas!!

Cool, good point. I am not all that familiar with the japanese tuning scene, so have a few questions:

-Do people who turbo or supercharge an NA generally go stand alone, piggyback or just get chips? I think I heard that AEM makes pretty much plug-and-play stand alones for Hondas and such for only a little over a grand. If I could get something like that for a grand for my car I'd be all over it.

-How much do a set of pistons and/or rods cost for your car to lower the compression to 9:1 or so? I'd think you'd be able to run quite a bit of boost and with a moderately sized turbo not have much lag.

-What would it cost to get a turbo, injectors (I assume), intercooler, exhaust and other required bits and pieces for one of your cars?

thanks,

Ben Z.

low 12's NA.? In a 4 banger Honda?

I mean I got Honda reliability and an 11 sec car, there just not at the same time. No seriously my Cobra is as reliable as it gets. Its not only a daily driver, its my work car, 100 miles a day in town.

I love the Roots SuperCharger. You get all you power instantly down low. Turbo cars are Fast. But the lag diffinately shows against Roots type blowers more so than maybe Centrifical blowers.
