You feel it all through your body. I used to go to the Motorplex in the fall for the national event there. Always had a blast.

I went a couple of years ago to Cedar Point, and the Top Thrill Dragster was the only ride I rode twice...waited almost two hours each time and it was TOTALLY worth it!!! It's an unbelievable experience.

Scott, from Northern KY, you're looking at about 5 1/2 hours to get to the park.

Highly recomended

I went to Rockingham NC a few times when I was younger, reading this thread I realize I need to take my daughter. It's an experience you have to be there to understand.

FYI, one thing I found online recently was that there were dragsters even faster than Top Fuel ones. Apparently in '77 a hydrogen peroxide rocket powered dragster went 3.22@396mph.

I remember one time on ESPN they had a cross section of a top fuel engine. It had the actual injectors over cylinders that were cut in half and covered in glass so you could get an idea of the volume of fuel that runs through the engine.

Just at idle it was an incredible amount. When they turned it up to show what it was like at full load it was like a freaking fire hose. I would believe they ran almost at hydraulic lock. I was amazed that the engine could still be running with that much fluid running through it.

I've always wanted to go to a top fuel race. My dad says it shakes the Earth when those cars take off.

I went to a few races in the '70s at US30 dragstrip to watch my neighbors run. After that, I went to the grand opening of Route 66 in Joliet, IL and was in hog heaven because I got a pit pass. Almost walked out of there with a "souvenir" from one of the cars (engine valve).

I took my wife to the race at Firebird earlier this year and she is now totally hooked on drag racing in general. She felt the vibration of the nitro class cars for herself and liked the intensity and raw power of these vehicles.

I also met a couple who is friends with Max Naylor and they go to the race here as well.

Our goal for this year is to go to the championship in Pomona.

(Next year, We are going to the US Nats in Indy, Firebird, and Pomona for the Championship)

The Top Eliminator ride at Speed Zone uses actual dragsters that take you from 0-70 in 3 seconds. Once you press the button for 2nd gear about 20' out from the starting line, the level of acceleration is incredible. :)

Prinz-I ran my Chevelle a couple times at Firebird. Really nice track.

At the Fitchburg Airport' s annuall Autumn AirFest, there was a "race" between Les Shockley's "Shockwave" ( a 1957 Chevy pickup powered by two jet engines! ) vs. two of the aerobatic aircraft in the show. The aircraft approached the runway about 100 feet off the deck at 300 MPH, Shockwave took off from a standing start and blew right by under them! That was impressive!

This was at the Dayton, Ohio airshow this summer that I went too. Also The Dragster is an awesome ride. I've rode it about 3-4 times since I live 2.5 hrs away.
