The worst of the year?

3M SMR for Dark Cars - remover or short term (very short) cover up? -

3M Finesse-it II Clear Coat Safe rubbing compound - Using a Pc and Meg's red pad it failed to get out minor scratches no matter how slow/fast meticulous crazy I got....

not to bag on all 3M products IHG worked pretty well for me - a bit hard to get off but really kicked up the final results when I detailed.

My free sample of Acrylic Werks turned out to be "total garbage". Just kidding, but it really did leave a lot to be desired. Before anyone tells me I need to back that up, search for my review to see why it is a let down.

Meguires Gold Class wax. Lifespan is measured in minutes...honestly! I've never seen a wax that disapeared the way that stuff does. And talk about staining plastic trim, yikes!

Ah well, it's not all bad. It was the final push that got me over to the proverbial good stuff, like Klasse and such.

Can't say I have bought a "terrible" product ... some could be overstating their strenght (as always) but I can say I discovered some cool ones this year...thanks to some samples and a little shopping on Autogeek.net.... loving their new Signature Series Wax, New Xtra Suds Soap they just came out with, and 303 protectant (used for the first time this year and will continue to for a long time) Love and care for your car and it will make you proud with it's shine!

First let me just say that this is a good product, and that I regret it in the sense that it's something I bought that I will likely never use again, but I don't regret that I tried it (unless I could somehow have gotten the knowledge of trying it without actually having shelled out for it).

But the $80+ I dropped on Z2, Z5, Z6, Z7, and ZFX was basically a waste in the sense that I don't like it and likely won't use it again. The Z12 was very nice, though.

It was very shiny, but it had no gloss. My paint didn't look red when you looked down it. It looked like a mirror. I bought a red car because I like red... It's possible to have high reflection and still see the red. I'd prefer it to look like a sharp reflection off a red pool than off a mirror.

It beaded a lot, but the beads don't move off the paint. So the car would get a lot more water spots (which seemed harder to remove than with Blackfire) and would be dirtier after driving in the rain.

It seemed to get a lot more crud stuck on the lower body. There were more times I needed to use bug & tar products or spot claying to remove little stuff stuck to the rockers and lower doors. With Blackfire it was very rare that I had to do this as everything came off in the wash (using the same #00 for both).

I also think it is a pain to apply. I much prefer being able to apply Blackfire right on top of a polish, still get months of durability, and a lot more depth and pop. On my wife's car, I find Klasse or MPPP to be much easier to apply, and both have great looks.

It wasn't a bad product, but I seriously can't imagine using it again. I really hate getting rid of stuff, so I'm not sure what I'll do with it. Maybe I'll just keep it around just in case. You never know when you'll change what you want from a product and start using something again that you previously put aside.

OMG, I have the EXACT same experience with my red Corolla, even people who visits my shop often noticed the car right away... They'd say "hey, it looks different today, very shiny but not as red"... Indoors, the car looked very oxidized instead of the usual deep, wet look of red mica.... Not worth it for me, but right now with my white MB, Z3 (without Z1 or ZFX) looks absolutely great...

Armor-All Leather wipes!

Holy crap!! how can they sell those things? they just leave a dull blotchy residue, took me forever to clean it off

Detailers Own Chenille wash mitt. After 3 uses, it had holes everywhere. It was soft, no doubt, but the durability was terrible.

Also, MF wash mitts SUCK. They hold onto dirt way more than sheepskin/wool. I will use mine on my wheels, thats it.

The comments about Black Magic remind me of some tire spray I tried from Armorall called "Extreme Shine." Has the same consistency as Black Magic and slings almost as bad. Smells like Raid too! It's horrible to walk out to your car and find an aura of pesticide surrounding it. :down
