The worst of the year?

Lets see:

1. Meguiars paste #26(october 2002 version)-streaked like heck, didn't last long, terrible wax.

2. pinnacle bodywork shampoo-I got a sample of this, mixed it to ratio, and it didn't perform better than eo or mothers car wash.

3. mothers sealer and glaze-Im sorry, but #81 hand polish is a breeze compared to this product. I just wish it was as easy to apply and remove like #81

4. meguiars endurance high gloss-Doesn't last, doesn't show that much depth, 303 replaced it and looks great.

5. meguiars natural shine and protectant-Smells like crap, looks too shiny on the dashboard. I have demoted it for engine detailing.

6. 3m swirl mark remover-I used it on very light swirls, didn't do much if any at all. Just hid the swirls. Imho, they should call this 3m swirl mark hider. Use 3m finesse it 2 if you want to remove swirls.

Can you tell us more about the problems you ran into with it and what you used to apply and remove it with?

How come the Turtle Wax Clearvue came second in a well known US glass report?

I have no idea. It seems to be somewhat 'soapy' to me and it streaked no matter what I tried, even using following with a clean, slightly damp mf towel then a dry one. Eagle's 20/20 is much easier to use and works a lot better.

Moose Wax and Vanilla Moose: Actually, they're not bad... just overpriced for what it is. Six months protection? Lie.

Regular Moose Wax is rated by Clearkote at 90 days durability and Vanilla Moose, even though it contains wax does not have any claimed durability.

On the other hand, on bottles of Carnauba Moose, it says to expect 6 months durability. On a show car or trailer queen, yeah, no problem...most waxes would last a while under those conditions. On a daily driver though, probably more like 3 months, give or take a few weeks.

BTW, if you can find a local distributer in your area (yeah, I know, not likely ;) ) the pricing is more competitive.

I'm suprised at the criticism of EX & VM, I have found these so easy to apply and remove and give a fantastic shine, although as I wax frequently, longevity doesn't bother me.

What don't you like about these?

What's your alternatives?

I think its purely a case of "I dont like it, so it must be total garbage"

I use EX all the time and get months of durability WITH the wetness, depth and beading.

I've tried several products I didnt like, but nothing that I would venture to say was "total garbage". I found Klasse to be difficult to use and all around dissapointing, I probably wont use it again, but I wouldn't call it "total garbage". Its a good product I'm sure, gets lots of praise, I just dont like it.

Funny how some people can't take criticism of a product they like....so they resort to sarcasm or feel the need to defend their product using the presumption that it was the user's fault. LoL

LOL, criticism doesn't bother me. What bothers me is when people dismiss a product as "total garbage" just because they personally didnt like it. Saying "I didn't like it" and saying "its total garbage" are two very different things. I'm not defending the product at all.

To me thats one of the great things about Autopia, is that people can discuss products objectively without resorting to broad generalizations. "total garbage" is not objective, its not helpful. What can anyone learn from reading "Blah Blah is total garbage"? They wont buy it? Maybe they'd have loved it? See what I'm saying?

Oh....Now I get it. Thanks for clearing that up.

So I guess you and vindaloo are actually referring to two different things. It just seemed in your initial post you equated "criticism" with people calling it garbage....but I guess that wasn't the case after all. My bad.

As an example (nothing personal to anyone in particular)

This is helpful

EX: I tend to stay away from these products (adding polymer to a wax and claiming it's a sealant is like bragging about added Teflon,) but I wanted to see why it's so popular. I don't know how long its "protection" lasts, but its wetness, reflectivity, depth, clarity, slickness, and beading all faded quickly.

He gives his reasons for disliking the product, how it worked for him.

Poorboys EX - Had to try it after the public butt whuppin' I took earlier this year. Tried it on several cars. Total garbage.

What have we learned? Nothing.

I was more complaining about the broad generalizations and dismissal of products as good in any way based on limited personal experience than I was about the product in particular. This irritates me whenever I see it around here (and it isn't often)

While not a bad product, I was really disappointed with the swirl removing capabilities of #9 "Swirl Remover 2.0". It's a decent polish, but really doesn't remove swirls and doesn't add much pop as other final polishes.

My best finds may be oldies but goodies here, but I LOVE DACP. Followed by the Klasse Twins. With these two I haven't really been searching much for new products.

I agree....... What do you call this statement below?

"I think its purely a case of "I dont like it, so it must be total garbage"............ Either those who aren't enjoying the product didnt use it correctly, or I and the others who love it and get fantastic results with it got "miracle bottles"."

Talk about your "broad generalizations" with a touch of sarcasm mixed in.....

In all honesty I don't see how thats the same. Thats a statement in response to a broad generalization. Some people dont experience the same results that more people do, whats the more likely reason? EX is user friendly, but how you use it, legnth of time waiting between coats and before topping do make a difference on how it works, I've seen it make those differences. I went back and removed the comment.

I dont want to get into an argument here, I just made a comment like everyone else has...

I also dont want to hijack everyones thread, if you want to discuss this more shoot me a PM ;)

My reason for posting here was not to assist others. I was expressing my views of a product that I felt was one of the worst products I've used all year.

As far as I'm concerned, Poorboys EX is an inferior product in almost every category that's important to me. I don't expect people to agree with my opinions but I think I'm entitled to them.

But theres a way of giving your opinion that can STILL be helpful to others. Think of it as being a Ford guy and dealing with a Chevy guy saying, "Fords suck, Fords are crap" all the time. Explain WHY you dont like Fords in a way others can use that information to make an educated decision about the product. Its just one of those "Internet Forum" ettiquite deals.

But really, lets not hijack the thread. Send me a PM ;)

Good idea.

Let's try and keep this thread on track folks. Don't turn this into another product debate or heated discussion. :argue

1) Mothers Back to Black. to me had zero life on the rubber around my windows. 2 washes and it was gone.

2) Meguires Deep Crystal car wash. All the hype about the suds and the "feel" left on the paint.. I found it no different outside of 2x the price from most I have used.

3) Same for Gold Class Car wash

Megs quick wax. It always mists down the side of the car where I've already waxed and leaves these little ugly particles. I even tried using it on my rims just to get something out of it. I think I'll just give it away.:(

What the heck do you normally use? Isn't this stuff like 1/2 the price of a similar-sized Gold Class? What on earth is 50% cheaper than that, homemade soap from the fat-jar?
