Change is good. It took me a long time to admit that hand polishing was, in the end, simply a waste of my time. No better results... just longer and a sore elbow.

Just stop using the handle...you'll find your machine will easier to use and control. Also, less vibrations. :xyxthumbs

Maybe a rubber washer between the handle & machine? I don't know if it would work, but might help.
 
The vibrations are from the pads. When I use 6" or larger the UDM becomes a bear. The 5" CCS are perfectly balanced with almost no vibrations.



Also, I prefer using the UDM without the handle.
 
You know Scott if you want to try my rotary out this winter I would be happy to ship it to you. I will have no need for it as of about November 1st due to weather here. All I ask is you pay shipping to return it to me.

I was looking at the 5-1/4 pads from Lake County. Before I spend MORE money does anyone know why if that is indeed the case why most resellers package with 6" pads? If what cgage is saying is correct why not supply with what appears to be a less expensive pad. Just because of size that is. Thanks.

Vibration is a function of balance and weight. Some pads that are the same weight and size will feel differently depending on how the pad is constructed. I notice this on both the UDM and the PC.



If you looked at the UDM DAS pad line you will notice that the pads are different size (thickness and diameter) based on function. In general, the more agressive the pad, the smaller the size.



The cost of a pad has more to do with material and labor than size. A straight cut disk has fewer steps than a pad with rounded corners, etc. The method of Velcro attachment is also a big factor in cost.
