The "CITY" has been hacked!!

I don't understand why people waste their time doing this . It must take hours or days to hack a site . I guess this place is next .

They most likely found a hole in the security, which would be a 1 minute job. Get in, put up your tag page, leave.

Damn, that sucks for DC. I think I know what GregCavi is talking about. I think "The Fuzz" got his pannies twisted the other day when I told him his reasoning behind the deletion of a informative post was ridiculous. He "warned" me! Whatever the hell that means!

If true that's ridiculous......BUT there are two sides to every story. The site still seems to be down eh?

How long does something like this take to repair?

Anthony

That's really a shame. It's not cheap or easy to keep these boards operational. What goes on behind the scenes to keep them enjoyable and problem free, is mind boggling, and to have some bored goober (putting it lightly) to come in and ruin it for everyone just isn't right.

I'm a firm believer in what goes around comes around.

Hey Greg....

I thought you were pretty square with them over there, what did you write that upset them all over there?

As for the hacker, it could be that he or she has no dealings with anything political but is just a bored kid.

And what's with the "can you tell me why the sky is high?" Is he the riddler? :LOLOL

Anthony

I posted a link to a site my buddy made for all of us. It is a place we can all trade the stuff we dont want or the stuff we want to share. DC totally went crazy over it. I pm'd david b about putting the link in a thread but he has not yet responded.

Greg

I came over here, to Autopia, to find out what happened to DC. Well I've found out, all right. What disturbs me is that I've also found out how some Autopians have reacted to the news, with jokes, wisecracks, and disparaging remarks about DC and its members. It is appalling!

All of us joined these forums to learn and share our knowledge about detailing cars. This isn't some damned campaign - "left" vs. "right" or some such! We are all brothers (and some worthy sisters) who should support one another, and be concerned when these sites are attacked.

I support Autopia. I support DC. I wish nothing but the best for both.

Hello Charles,

I don't see many attacks on DC here in this thread, in fact perhaps only 1 can be seen as an "attack" and non-direct at that. I see more concern and outrage at the hacker himself and general chat about the ordeal of hacking.

My comment of "funny on one part" is not a cheap shot at DC but rather "funny" in the sense of the hackers message and also why pick a detailing forum to hack and post up a political message?

So I only see a problem where others seek to stir the pot.

I saw that thread but I personally didn't see any problem with it. In fact I see it as a cool idea, a "swap" meet of sorts dealing with car care products.

The problem may come from someone making money from that site and thenusing DC or Autopia as free advertising for that site.

Good idea though :bigups

Hi Anthony,

I certainly didn't construe your comment as one of the ones I found to be in poor taste. Some of the other posts, though, I question. Am I stirring the pot? Maybe, I'll go back and read the messages again. Perhaps people were simply "rolling with the punches", as it were...

Charles

Hey Charles...

No I don't think anyone in particular is causing any trouble but because of the lack of emotion present in this type of format it MAY come across as such, I fully understand that.

I mean even with the emotion doodaddies things can come across the wrong way so what may be a simple, innocent ribbing can come across as a low blow.

Take care,

Anthony

Anthony,

I've re-read every post.

After Further Review:

I overreacted a tad. But there a couple of posters who are disgruntled with the DC staffers, and seemed to imply in their messages that what happened to DC was justifiable. Or perhaps I merely inferred it...

At any rate, I hope Dwayne won't have to go through too much hassle to restore DC.

Charles

i dont know what the i dont delete anything part of the post was but hopefully that means all of the stuff is still there. all of the old posts and the layout and such. :crossing fingers:

You know, Autopia could use a "Games" section for a little diversion from life's daily worries. I was just on DC yesterday, before 5 pm, to play one of their "Arcade" games. I went back this morning to try to improve on my score, and found out about the hack. Dayam, I hope Dwayne can keep my old scores, LOL.
