Swissvax Concorso vs. SV Cleaner Fluid

Hi Guys



I've been trying to justify the price of Swissvax Concorso in my own mind ;) . I've seen (and read about) some outstanding results - on this board and others. I was just at the point of ordering the wax and the SV Cleaner Fluid when I read a post (can't remember which forum) where the poster opined that, IHHO, most of shine/wetness/clarity etc. in the Swissvax combo comes from the Cleaner Fluid, not the wax. (Note I'd like to limit the Swissvax wax part of this discussion to Concorso or below.) He went as far to suggest that the pricing of cleaner fluid/wax should be reversed!! :shocked



I'm wondering what you all think? In particular, has anyone used Swissvax Cleaner Fluid with another ("lesser") brand of wax and, if so, what were the results? Did the CF give the "lesser" brand any extra "oomph"? Or, alternatively, has anyone used SV Concorso with another cleaner and compared the results to using it with the CF?

Heh, heh I'd forgotten I'd ever posted this question! :p Thanks for the reply though. I agree that most of the shine comes from proper polishing/prep; my question assumed that had been done.
 
Per Swissvax, the Cleaner Fluid is required for proper bonding. That said, I've used it and was also debating whether to use it or not because it was an extra step and I had heard opinions that Zymol HD Cleanse didn't make a difference. There is definitely a difference when using CF though. After CF, people have commented that it looks very deep and wet. Adding the Concorso just makes it look so much better.
 
I think it was me - at least that is what I still think. And I properly polished the paint and finished off with Ultra Fina. The paint looked beautiful. However after applying the CF, the results were superior. The wax only added a little bit.
 
the cleaner fluid does bring the paint to a brighter shine. I believe its suggested that you only use it around twice a year or so. I really enoy the sheeting of the wax. Its been raining the last couple of days and its nice seeing tight beads rolling of my paint. After the rain, the car still looks freshly clean.

Yeah, Mikey, I did order Concorso and SV CF from Detailers Domain just before Christmas. Phil had a great deal going and I couldn't have been more pleased with the service I received. I'm waiting for some warmer weather to give my car a complete detail and use the SV. :)

Yeah. That was a great deal. I bought CF and Concourso during that sale as well.
 
I do not have any first hand experience but I recently ask somebody a similar question and was told they preferred the Zymol HD Cleanse before the Swissvax Cleaner. I think you can use any one of the paint cleaners first such as HD Cleanse, Swissvax Cleanse or even Lusso Oro Revitalizing Creme before SV Concorso or Zymol Concours or even Vintage or Lusso Oro and get very similar results. I cannot see any carnuaba wax "bonding" to your paint. The cleaners are an oily type of glaze that cleans and improves the finish of the LSP when applied.

Yeah I agree. But since this thread has risen from the dead, I'll rephrase my original question, which is: which is more responsible for the final "look", the "pre-wax cleaner" or the wax itself?? I'm not talking about the polishing; I'm sure you could apply Swissvax or Zymol or whatever over a properly polished surface and achieve the same level of "bonding" without the dedicated cleaners. But the "cleaners" (SV CF, HD Cleanse etc.) would seem to act more like glazes than cleaners. And therein lies the rub (that's supposed to be a joke, guys) :nervous: ;)

What's the CF like? Is it a lotion or liquid? Do you just wipe it on then off or work it in first? Do you think its leaving something behind with glaze-like properties or is it just extremely clean surface?

I haven't actually used the CF yet, but I can tell you it's like an oily lotion and I'm thinking it's probably similar to Zymol HD Cleanse, which does leave a film behind, like a glaze.



Here are the instructions from the bottle of CF:



Using a SV applicator, apply Cleaner Fluid liberally with even back and forth motion over an area of 1 sq. metre.



Work in the CF with light pressure until the surface becomes "saturated"



Do not let it dry! With a fresh SV cloth, polish the treated paint area. Keep turning the cloth to expose a clean surface.
