Wow !!!! Even the Goodyear Polyglas Tires !!!! I always liked them, they were really fast !!! Tks for taking pics and posting up !!!!

Terrific, looks like it's still on show room floor. That interior choice though, LOL, it's like somebody in Interior Design thought "We really should offer something that will match everyone's Avocado appliances!" . . . and somebody bought it!

🤣 We had avocado shag carpeting in the first house we bought in 1991, left over from the 70’s. I’m sure it seemed like a good idea at the time.

The Challenger also has a green vinyl top 😳 The Goodguys meet is in town this weekend so probably the first stop for the Challenger.

Been a nice few weeks at work for those of us who like V8’s; 1966 Shelby GT350-H and a 1100hp 2013 Shelby GT500 in as well.

More on the projects here if interested:

They went through a lot of course wool pads & microfiber pads to knock down the texture on the Challenger; GT350-H had very soft paint so a lot of B & S Uro Cell red pads to finish that one out.

Somehow I can hear Archie and Edith Bunker sing "Those Were the Days" when I see this 70's Mopar.
Unlike most of you, I am not a fan of the "green" interior, BUT with today's austere and limited interior color selection of black, grey, or tan, with an occasional white, it is kinda nice to remember that there was a time when interiors were available in several color options from the USA car manufacturers.

One question for you Budget Plan1:
Do you know how Esoteric details the matte paint hood?? Or I assume it is paint and not a vinyl decal/wrap/applicae from way back then.

Our family fully optioned '74 Ford LTD Country Squire Wagon (first car with air-conditioning and power front bench seat & tinted windows!) , replete with fake wood fiberglass trim and decals, came with a dark green "luxury" vinyl interior to compliment the yellow-tan paint, so at least I am familiar with a green interior! The exterior was hail damaged when we bought it as a new-car off the lot and my father got it on a very good deal from the Ford dealer in Green Bay for a vehicle we could not otherwise afford. (Yes, my father was "frugal" at times... Like father like son, hey, Captain Obvious!). As my father said of the hideous (to me, anyway) pox-marked hood and roof, "It don't hurt the runnin' of it none", which was true.

Oh, we had the Mercury version, the Colony Park. Ours was blue, with the blue vinyl interior. I don't remember the fiberglass, but the faux-wood vinyl wrap on the sides/back.

I asked Todd and fortunately, in this case as it was recently restored, it was in good shape so nothing needed.

He said "It’s called “organisol”. Used by Mopar in the late 60’s and early 70’s..."

Google seems to confirm that:

Organosol (sometimes called “Organisol”) was a factory-applied, textured vinyl coating used by Chrysler on Dodge and Plymouth performance cars in the late 1960s through early 1970s, most notably on hoods, scoops, and sometimes rear panels. It has a matte black, slightly rough texture...

The hoods of the Challenger T/A & AAR Cuda's (among some other Mopars of the era) were fiberglass so then they slathered this on top I guess. I'm sure it seemed like a good idea at the time! Worst case, they make paint if'n ya need to re-do/restore: https://www.classicindustries.com/product/all-years/dodge/charger/parts/K89185.html

Yes, if Mopar-connoisseur detail512 was still posting, he would tell us about such care to this "oganisol".
Thank you for the education.

On a related subject, it seems Dr. Beasley is one of the few car-care product manufacturers who has a line products specifically designed for matte finishes.
Matte-finished wraps (Protective Plastic Films or PPF) is also in vogue with some of the younger car owners of the drifting and hooligan community.
To each their own. it is just another "challenge" for detailers these days and the internet social media is replete with horror-storied descriptions and pics from such car owners who have their vehicle cleaned and detailed by "the uninformed" about its proper care.
Which, is WHY I asked about how to care for such matte finishes these days. (Fodder for another thread topic!)

Matte/Satin PPF is pretty prevalent these days; I'd say 1/3 of the cars coming through the shop are getting matte/satin PPF. It seems like nearly every Cybertruck that shows up leaves with some type of matte/satin wrap...and G-Wagon owners seem to be fans of matte/satin as well. Ferrari's will occasionally do satin, Lamborghini's seem a bit more a frequent than Ferrari and Porsche's seem to rarely get matte/satin. Just a very informal random accounting based upon what I see wandering around the various studios during the day and what I pull/send to the various locations each week.

All in all, we go through a lot of satin film but gloss likely holds a 3-1 edge overall. For the folks/coworkers here who have satin on their vehicles many mention that taking care of a well protected matte finish is no more difficult than a well protected gloss finish.

Just not my thing so I guess I'll never know; spent too much time over the years chasing that last iota of gloss to knowingly dull it all down!
