Suggestions for an One-Step Wax/Cleaner Wax

if durability is a real concern, I`m not using/recommending an AIO to begin with

Carpro essence is a pretty good all in one. A hair pricy lol to use quite often on other cars but if you are just doing your own a couple times a year. You don’t use a ton and to doing have to work it a lot either it’s a shorter working Time

Mckees 360 shows a bit of promise. I used it quickly by hand on a couple panels that were washed with a bristled brush by a “detailer” at a body shop. Told me he did an extra good job. And it seemed to at least hide the marring on those two panels if nothing else compared to the neighboring panels

AF tripple although I don’t think PBMG sells it anymore. That stuff if pretty good.

Hd speed. Stuff just works. It’s pretty much a product that will work in 95% of AIO situations. Maybe there is some sort of paint system that it hasn’t worked well in but it’s real good

Let’s not forget Wolfgang AIO. Good stuff

I saw before afters of the britemax AIO and it was impressive.

We are living in a great time here with so many choices of great all in ones.

I liked the Britemax that came free on a past order. Easy to use, good results, and holding up well after a couple of months. I think that it`s worthy of some love and attention.

....In the past 2-3 years I have been moving towards the position that maintain the existing paint is more important than keeping it perfectly polished. As we transition to water based formulas and thinner and thinner clear coat; and I have avearged keeping my cars for 10+ years I see paint preservation to be key to long term good looks.
This is a "sticky" point that you bring out Troy about `maintaining" a vehicle`s appearance. I say "sticky" because it`s more oxymoronic; meaning a 5-year-old vehicle that has never been compounded or polished, but looks swirled and scratched will have more clear-coat thickness than a vehicle that has been "corrected" every 6-months to keep it pristine-looking, only to suffer cleat-coat failure in the coming years. Which would you rather have? Kind of the now-or-later scenario.
I would prefer to detail/work on a vehicle that has not been kept up for two reasons:
1) It`s easy to see the results of a "properly" corrected and detailed vehicle
2) I worry less about a too-thin clear coat and burning through it or to the underlining pigment/paint, especially since I am a hobbyist without a paint-thickness gauge.

Yes, it takes longer to complete the detail "properly", but usually the vehicle owner is thrilled with the results. Even if it is "lightly" corrected-and-protected using a one-step wax/sealant (hence this topic and request for recommendation of such car-care products), shiny scratches look good to most non-Autopian (IE, average) daily-driver vehicle owners.

I also think this is why coatings are so popular for the very reason you mention: exterior clear coat/paint preservation. The less you have to touch (IE, correct and protect via a wax or sealant or now a coating) an exterior, the longer it will last (to some degree!) This is also the reason some vehicle owners "discriminately" (IE, I call it" infrequently"!) wash or wax their vehicle: they think it will last longer.

Guess it`s easy for me to spend somebody else`s time/effort, but IME once you`ve AIOed something the surface is nicely prepped and it only takes a moment to do a quick application of LSP.

Guess I`ve come to think of AIOs as replacements for Paint Cleaners.

Marine Clerk- I`ve always kinda knee-jerked against Poorboy`s stuff for the, uhm... silly... reason that I`m not poor, never have been, have zero intention of being so, and firmly believe that anybody who *is* poor oughta be attending to something other than Detailing. I know people who *are* poor and Detailing just isn`t part of their life experience in any way. It all adds up to my being just sooo serious about the topic of Poverty that the company name bugs me. As a result, I`m woefully ignorant of that product line :o

Since I might oughta reconsider any silliness like that, your saying how their Polish with Sealant compares directly with ZAIO for half the price got my attention. So, how is PB`s Polish with Sealant with regard to the following:

-Trim staining
-Abrasion of smooth plastics
-Corrective ability
-Chemical cleaning
-Compatibility with various LSPs

I wanna keep a more open mind about their stuff and maybe this is a good place to start.

Accumulator- Understand where your coming from on the "Poorboy" name. For me it`s only a catch phrase to get the consumer to buy quality products at an affordable price, nothing more.

There`s nothing IMHO that separates it from Zaino AIO in terms of corrective and cleaning ability.

Since it leaves a polymer finish behind the only things I`ve topped it with are Optimum OCW and Sonax Polymer Net Shield.

Your experience with LSP toppers, such as your favorite FK1000, I`m sure is much more wide ranging than mine.

I`ve only used it on painted surfaces or to clean exhaust tips so have never, as far as I remember, gotten it on trim or any kind of smooth plastic.

For me whether it`s a Wax, Coating or Polymer I stay in the same parallel category.

One other thing. My preferred method of application is with a cotton towel. Think of an old face cloth etc.

Hope this helps.

Marine Clerk- Ah, thanks for the additional info.

I can`t use cotton on my vehicles (for stuff like this) lest it cause marring..even by softest cotton (DFT/Concours Buffing Towels) cause some damage that I can see under magnification. But that doesn`t mean it wouldn`t work fine for me with MF!

And, heh heh, my LSP experience might not be as wide-ranging as one might think! I haven`t tried anything much since I latched onto the FK1000P, which is all I use on vehicles that get AIOed.

On the cheap, I like FK`s 215. More spendy, I like Wolfgang`s AIO.
And believe me, I`ve tried several. In fact, I`ve owned two of the highly touted AIOs mentioned in this thread, and they just didn`t work for me.

Heh heh, oh man would I love to hear more, especially about what doesn`t work for ya. But OK, understand the hesitation to call somebody`s favorite baby ugly ;)

Let me ask it this way- what`s so great about the Wolfgang AIO? Is it Black Trim-friendly? Likely to be Accumulator-proof? As I value your opinion, I`m curious why you like that one so well.

I`m with Accumulator on this one: I`d like to know what they are and why you do not like them and what is so special/better about Wolfgang AIO.
